Although she has been singing from an early age, Sofie (aka Finn) only started taking singing lessons with Annick Desair at the age of 17 in order to play in the musical Simon Vedelaar (Simon the Fiddler) in secondary school. She loved it so much that she started singing regularly and taking regular lessons. She took a respite from singing while studying Applied Linguistics (Translator), but resumed in her final years and started tap dancing and Scottish Country dancing, as well.
As the years went by, Finn improved and gained more confidence in singing and performing.
Five years ago she moved back to her ancestral home in the West of Flanders. There she joined the local choir and after a short time took up the roll of choir master. These days she still directs the choir and performs as soprano soloist.
Not living very far from the folk centre and the folk festival in Dranouter, she also started getting involved into folk music and folk dancing. Consequently she enrolled in the folk singing course taught by Eva De Roovere (Kadril and now going solo) and Chris Brooker (Flying Pickets, Reset).
Folk music has always been a part of Finn..s life but now it has taken on a more prominent role.
Apart from folk music she also likes jazz, blues, world music and classical music.
