"I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE OF ROCK'N'ROLL... AND IT COMES FROM THE EAST
MIDLANDS!"
Stuart Maconie, New Musical ExpressCrazyhead formed in early 1986 as Anderson/Vocals, Kev Reverb/Guitar,
Porkbeast/Bass, Fast Dick/Guitar and Vom/Drums. They played their debut gig
at "The Fan Club" Leicester on 25th September 1986.Signed by the Food label, over the next two years they released four singles
and an album. Their first two singles topped the UK Indie charts and the
follow-ups both touched the Top 40, and even though they were not massive
hits helped to establish the bands great songwriting reputation, as did the
critically acclaimed Desert Orchid album which had similar chart success.
After a hectic touring schedule across the UK and Europe supporting the
likes of The Cult, Julian Cope and Iggy Pop, Crazyhead toured the USA and
released the hit Have Love Will Travel EP.Unfortunately after Food were acquired by EMI relationships between band and
company soured and so the second album Some Kind Of Fever and the ironically
titled (as it turned out) single Everything's Alright were released on the
FM Revolver/Black label. In 1992 Porkbeast departed and was replaced by Christina. The band continued to play gigs in the UK and Europe and in 1997 Pete Creed joined as guitarist. In early 1999 they released two CD's: Fucked By Rock an album of previously
unreleased material, and an EP 13th Floor of all-new material. They then
toured the UK in the spring and autumn of 1999, including a support slot
with "The Mission". Crazyhead started recording material for a new album,
but the departure of Anderson for a job abroad meant the effective end of
the band. They played their farewell gig on 21st December 2000 at "The
Charlotte" in Leicester.Gigs are planned for 2008 - and a new website is on its way - 'watch this space'.
