About Me

Named after a 2001 single by Japanese band A Hundred Birds, Batonga is the meeting point of three great music passionates and friends within Argentina’s inspirational electronic scene. On one side there’s the mentor, Javier Zuker, a big fan of rock music and bass player during the 80s who, as a dj, producer and live-performer, incarnates the main referent in building the local crossover between rock n’ roll and le type=telectronic culture. Then there’s Fabian Dellamonica, whose devotion for such varied styles as pop, rock, folk, dub, hip hop and funky-disco makes him a wide and eclectic performer behind the decks. And finally there’s Ramiro Gabelli, aka Rama, who after taking part in several bands decided to focus as a dj, revisiting cult hip hop and playing from hip house to all kinds of downtempo styles. A series of parties called Social had the three of them sharing the dj booth and artistic production for the first time in the late 90s. In 2002 they gathered again to push their musical affinities even further through Batonga, a night where dance and fun arise from their punk-mix of all sort of electronic styles with genres ranging from rock to funk and electro. In 2004 the trio invited Rob Da Bank, another great music passionate, to join them at Creamfields Buenos Aires festival. In December 2005 they celebrated 5 years of Batonga alongside special guest Damian Lazarus. After a summer one off show in glamorous Punta del Este, Uruguay, in 2006 Batonga keeps sounding every Wednesday at Rumi club in Buenos Aires.
