In 2007 Central Illinois witnessed the first unsigned artist from their own area gain commercial radio exposure. Thanks to WZCQ’s Hot 105.5FM and their new segment "Hometown Heat" GQ was the first winner with back to back victories with ’Bad Guy’ and the smash debut single ’Chevy Thang’ and is primed to expand throughout the state, region and nation. As a producer and rapper GQ’s dual threat ability has thrusted him into the forefront of the 217 movement. Walking along side Champaign’s elite in the music scene Twick G and GQ have developed a partnership to bring the light to America’s heartland. "From The Box 2 The Bubble" will give exposure to the two thriving communities of Rantoul (The Toolbox) and Champaign (Bubble City).GQ first came on the scene strong in 2006 with The Movement a group comprised of Rantoul’s "Freestyle King" Constant and an upstart rapper/producer BlacBlaze. As a founding current member and producer The Movement gained success with their lead off single "Everytime U See Me" and followed up with the club hit "Justle Dance". Other songs such as "Where U From?" "Get Loose" "Climaxx" and the hater anthem "I Spy" showcased the groups range as artists and GQ’s versatility as a producer, not just a beat maker.Heading into 2007 the standard was set high as GQ’s production became recognized. After remixing his second solo song "Chevy Thang" into the hit it’s become today GQ knew it was time to grow as an individual. Putting beats in hands of other artists such as Constant from The Movement, Twick G, Lady Assasyn and a number of other talented artists gave him the opportunity to tap into other markets and gain a bigger fan base. With respect on the production side it was apparent that GQ had to show his fans that he was not limited to just the production boards.2008 promises to be a big year for Q. The Twick G collaboration, his own Mixtape and the debut of his highly anticipated solo album "Rida Musiq" are all slated to be released. As ’Chevy Thang’ gains more radio spins in more markets, GQ will soon reap the benefits of his hard work.
