About Me

SparkleWow!!! It has been a wild, but exciting ride the past few years for Chicago-born songstress Sparkle! Everything started with the explosive hit, “Be Careful”, a scorned woman’s anthem, which seemed to make Sparkle an overnight sensation. And with her soulful and deeply emotional self-titled Rockland/Interscope debut, she became a star. With a powerful, gospel-infused voice one that speaks triumph and heartbreak, and songs written and produced by Grammy winner R. Kelly, Sparkle unleashed the sound and the fury of female-driven R&B.“Be Careful” was #1 on Billboard’s R&B Monitor Charts for a staggering six consecutive weeks. Accompanied by a thoughtfully cinematic video directed by and featuring R. Kelly, the single quickly moved into heavy rotation on Urban and Pop radio stations nationwide and every major video outlet. Not surprisingly, “Sparkle” debuted at number 3 on the Billboard top 200 with impressive sales its first week and quickly reached platinum status.Sparkle re-immerged with her sophomore album "Told You So", at Motown her new home. The album was produced by Steve Huff who has also produced hits for Avant, Joe and Keke Wyatt. The album (Told You So) featured the hit single "Its A Fact". The million dollar video was directed by Little X who came from the hit making team of Hype Williams that set the standard for video making to date. Sparkle has worked with some of the best in the business. And like many successful soul sirens, she got her start singing in church and along side her sisters and brothers in their family group, The Edwards Family. Though Sparkle’s first passion is singing, she also has interests in modeling and acting. Though her modeling successes were local, she still loves to strut her stuff whenever she gets the opportunity. The opportunity came in the form of print work in 2004 for an ad & packaging campaign for Sunbeam Products Inc. She was one of the first black models featured on their personal warming product packaging. As far as the acting is concerned, Sparkle was lead actress in Jackie Taylor’s Black Ensemble Theatre musical/play, “The Other Cinderella”, just before she landed her deal with R. Kelly. Currently, Sparkle is sifting through a few scripts to find the best fit.Sparkle’s first professional work was with the late, talented, & beautiful Aaliyah in which she referenced and sang most of the background vocals on her debut cd, “Age Ain’t Nuthin’ But A Number”. You can also find Sparkle lending vocals to R. Kelly (Rated R), Mary J. Blige (Share My World), Tank (One Man), and the Belly & Life soundtracks, just to name a few.Flash forward to 2007, Sparkle is currently in Las Vegas where she is on stage helping out mentor and girlfriend Toni Braxton with her show at the Flamingo Hotel. After a long break from what she loves, this beautiful and hard-working singer proves her resiliency. Sparkle is currently in the studio working on her highly anticipated new cd.So sit back and listen for what she finally has to say! You won’t be disappointed!
