Currently residing in Miami, Florida, Mark Poiesz performs and records regularly in a variety of styles ranging from Rock, Pop and R&B to Jazz, Electronica and Hip-Hop. Often described by colleagues as a musical chameleon, Mark’s broad range of influences and experiences is a testament to his versatility. With ease he can go from playing a high energy rock show to an intimate jazz trio performance, or from a soulful R&B session to cracking manic drum n’ bass beats. His musical personality is the combination of raw, boundless energy and enthusiasm with the refinement of conservatory training and learning.
Originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Mark's professional career began at age 14. Even as a teenager he worked regularly, performing and recording in Rock, Funk, Gospel and Jazz settings. This wealth of opportunities eventually led him to South Florida and the University of Miami, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Studio Music and Jazz Drum Set in 2007. During his four years at U of M, Mark participated in several Downbeat award-winning ensembles, as well as performing with the Grammy nominated Concert Jazz Band.
Mark’s current activities include writing and playing as a member of the Fort Lauderdale based rock band Ghost of Gloria and a host of sessions and freelance engagements. He also teaches private drum lessons at Resurrection Drums in Hollywood, FL.
In addition to his qualifications behind the drum kit, Mark also works in music production, utilizing such platforms as Ableton Live, Pro Tools and Logic Pro.
