Writer/Director/Producer - V.O./On-Camera Talent - VOM (Very Old Model)
I've spent almost my entire life in studios or on-location, recording and/or shooting one 'creative' project or another, on one side of the camera or the other. I've also been fortunate enough to have given birth to extremely creative, talented & loving (now adult) children, who've also chosen lives that follow a creative path. However, we are actually descended from a very long line of spiritual leaders, from varied 'systems' of spiritual belief.
I have a cousin, uncles, grandparents, great- grandparents, etc. who are/were Buddhist priests (all the way back to Samurai days); there are Native American healers in my lineage, as well ... and my father is a Deacon who once studied philosophy and attended seminary. It's perhaps the perfect blend of World Religion and philosophy that CAN lead to an interest in some of the more inexplicable things in life; perhaps opening doors to inner peace and gratitude, as well as an understanding of certain things that go into what I somewhat jokingly refer to as 'The Mystery Box of Life.'
I'm one of those people that actually HAS had the 'Life' experience of passing through Death, recalling every moment (I think!); which is probably why I hold beliefs that others might need proof of, or require faith for; I don't really know, because I've rarely spoken of it outside my closest circle of family and friends. But recently, a friend who was 'passing'(as in, their physical life was ending) said my experiences were 'comforting.' So, largely for that reason, I'm now putting my somewhat unique experience 'out there'(here on MySpace) - not hanging out a shingle with my name on it, or anything...but not holding the information too close to the vest, as in the past.
Frankly, in the world I work in, being the only female, or one of very few women, well, THAT'S 'unique' enough for me. (I can only imagine the reaction I'd get if the tech and/or Teamsters I often work with heard that I'm 'The Girl That Wouldn't Die'... LOL)! But who knows? Maybe even they might be comforted ... or say, WOW.
All in all, I've had an interesting life, full of many WOWS...and POWS, for that matter. I've survived two huge injuries and maladies that many doctors doubted I could recover from - yet somehow, I'm still here, I'm not done yet, and I'm still making NOW as full of WOW as I can:).
ADVICE YOU DIDN'T ASK FOR: (though if you're still reading, there must be something here for you)...THE BOTTOM LINE IS: DO IT, NOW!
WHATEVER YOU WANT, WHATEVER YOU WISH FOR, NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU MAY THINK 'IT' IS TO ACHIEVE or ACCOMPLISH: DO IT, NOW!
BECAUSE AS THE HOPI ELDERS HAVE PASSED ON TO MANY OF US:..
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.
This could be a good time!
There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold onto the shore.
They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.
Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore,
Push off into the river.
Keep your eyes open,
And your heads above the water.
See who is in there with you and celebrate.
At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally,
Least of all ourselves.
For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over.
Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the One’s we've been waiting for.
