Moving at a comfortable pace : Rob (remember: it was the apples) : working on my lifelong goal to never become a corporate stiff : research : traveling : thrifting : there's not much better than a rowdy crowd playing board games : collecting and playing musical instruments : singing (though, not very well) : laughing : martial arts : performing and visual arts : interior design : orchids (that's right, boys) : philosophy : languages and dialects : long meals : wine : telling it like it is, buddy : SCUBA : reef tanks : sailing : pottery : fellow vain bastards : human/civil rights : dancing : eBay : literature : occasionally enjoying the state of intoxication : sarcastic wit : my friends - everything they do, create, and represent; they inspire and help define me as an individual (and what can't be said for the commitment, laughter, love and shoulders on which to snot they so graciously provide?) : Hmm... oh yeah, and
Kindred spirits; someone who doesn't check the time, always has a camera in their pocket, a song in their head or a pen in their hand. People with whom I've lost touch. Trying to keep it real on here. Of course those who believe quantity rivals quality are welcome to that distinction - I'm just not so inclined. AOL IM: aegiale

Rank my friends? I think not...
Broad taste; not really into hardcore metal, rap or country, but can always appreciate a well-composed song : the slow and stringy : any great beat : cheesy Europop has recently taken residence in my heart, despite my best efforts to make it feel unwelcome : Celtic - Uilleann Pipes : opera : jazz : blues : bluegrass : dance : techno : ambient : "world" music and all it encompasses.
Some fav. groups / people I'm into right now are Jeff Buckley : Depeche Mode : Nick Drake : Radiohead / Thomy Yorke : Tori Amos : Dead Can Dance : Low : Trespassers William : Frou Frou / Imogen Heap : Hooverphonic : Massive Attack : Tool : Postal Service : Peter Gabriel : Sigur Ros : Sufjan Stevens : all my kickass friends' projects... the list goes on, of course.
Never really liked mainstream too much - satellite radio all the way!
Foreign / Independent are usually favorites. Although Papillon, Camille Claudel and Wings of Desire immediately come to mind they do not fully represent my taste in film. I'm a bit of a documentary whore, too.
PBS : BBC : Comedy Central : Cartoon Network (the genius that is Adult Swim) : MTV2 - Late Night : Fine Living : Food Network : National Geographic : History Channel : IFC : Writing About History on C-SPAN mostly. (If I sound like a boring prude, I promise I'm not.)
Non-fiction : poetry : lots of internet reading : political satire because it keeps you in the know, while being really enjoyable and entertaining to read : Nietzsche, Camus, Mencken, Rand and the other dry, philosophical masters : Lightman, Hawking, Sagan and such scientific greats who, by sharing their secrets in layman's terms, have inspired and taught mere mortals such as myself : Wilde and Eliot - two of the most dynamic, poetic characters whose books I've picked up and couldn't set down : and of course all the up-and-coming authors out there, waiting to burst.
There are basic principles labeled "heroic" by society that every human being should follow. Period. I do admire people who choose not to bask in convention, but not out of blatant rebellion or simply because it's the 'in' thang : those who think for themselves (NewsFlash: you have your own brain - use it) : people who save their dramas for their mommas, et cetera.
