Treblez is the culmination of 19yrs of heavenly work, set to continue, hopefully impacting the lives of many....David Powell aka Treblez is a musician/producer and rapper hailing from Croydon, London. He was born into a family of musicians (surrounded by singers, drummers, guitarists etc) and consequently developed an acute ear for sweet harmonies. His family are regular church goers, with Dad (Michael Powell- check his myspace!!) playing bass in the church band. Thus it was only natural that David joined him, age 13, playing second keyboards under the band leadership of Luke 'Duke' Smith. This experience ignited Davids' passion for producing (whilst kicking out dreams of a professional football career) and his skills were honed under the watchful eye of music teachers at the prestigous Whitgift School.
In 2003, aged just 14 (young bwoy), David, under the name Draygo, was asked to compose and arrange a few songs with his dear cousin, Maurica Wright (aka 'Mrs Truflo'- now a member of Gospel Tongues) which led to him being hooked on the producing bug. At the same time he was also working with his good friend JB, another Whitgift man, on a few small ideas...
One thing led to another and soon David and JB were performing in front of audiences bringing their fresh and unique brand of entertainment, musicianship and exquisite vocals. 2005-2006 was a quiet period in which David and JB were writing, composing, with a few performances dotted around just to keep de hype alive!! It was then that the Lord gave David a new identity, with the name Draygo being ditched in favour of TrebleZ (the name referring to the Trinity Godhead). This led to the ditching of many links with the secular world, not out of spite, but due to the promise from above that said he had to re-align his focus. Thanks to a marvelous birthday present from Dad (old school FruityLoops hehe!!), TrebleZ started to carve out his own sound...
The years have rolled by and now David is currently studying for a BMus degree in jazz at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he has had the honour of meeting the likes of Dave Holland, Dave Liebman, Liam Noble and Phil Robson as well as playing alongside up and coming stars such as Peter Daley.
Its hard to categorise TrebleZ as there are literally too many influences inspiring every beat that is produced.Everything from Miles Davis and Charlie Parker to Kirk Franklin and other Gospel luminaries can be found on his battered ipod!!! This has enabled him to develop a stlye which will hopefully be enough to take him to that next level. His beats and rhymes have been let out on unsuspecting audiences around the UK whilst God continues to make his dreams a reality.
