Catch Our Show Weekday Mornings... www.pyx106.com .. Here's a Blast. When I was The Advertising Director For Ulster Magazine and The Huguenot Herald. Two quaint and regional Publications in the Hudson Valley. I naturally enjoyed all the entertainment aligned with the Publishing industry. Interviews, Music and Art... A fabulous opportunity arose to do some voice over work. Ron Rizzi of WEXT in Poughkeepsie offered me a Sunday shift. I began in radio doing a jazz show. Which really is pretty close to perfect for a beginner................................................ working on a script! met a new friend who writes for GH wish me LUCK!!! ..................... It gives you a chance to have super long cuts, think about what you want to say, learn a bit about the business and make life long friends. - it worked for me. Here's the eery part. About 6 weeks into it, I realized that I I wanted to really have my own Show oneday ... I talked to Ron to see if that was even realistic, i mean who doesn't want there own show. Yet, i was in it for the long hall and didn't want to burn the place down with my passion and dream. (It takes a real special person to ease a newbe into the biz. Ron was very kind.) He said itcould really happen for me and I should consider a Radio Station in Woodstock/NY which was progressive and New Music based. Two weeks later, WEXT was off the air and I was doing Middays. Ron didn't want me to know the fate of his station but still encouraged me to continue. Which i think was very unselfish and really respectful. I spent 1992-1998 at WDST/RADIO WOODSTOCK. I was there when Sublime, Nirvana, Flaming Lips, Pearl Jam all debuted. I remember when Sheryl Crow came to the station. She was warming up her voice singing octave intervals. Then she does," leaving las vegas" on the air- but really raspy. Her vocal ability- range, vibrato and technique goes way beyond her modern rock.
