Sanction started 20 years ago when the band Black Zephyr with members Kevin Wegman, Bill Saalbach, and Greg Chapman joined forces with singer Ann Straley. The band added Leon Costello on guitar just after their first public appearance (which was Bill's high school talent show). Greg Chapman left the band and was replaced by Rick Blevins on bass. After a short stint Rick left the band and Mark Pendyck was hired for bass. Leon left the band a couple of years later and it was decided to go on with one guitarist. The band performed countless gigs and enjoyed great success with Ann on vocals, Kevin on guitar, Mark on bass, and Bill on drums. In 1996 Bill decided to leave the band and Brian Maggs was brought in for drums. After a couple of years Brian left the band and John Botkins was hired for drums. The band played in this configuration for about a year when Kevin got the chance to join a band and record a demo in New York City. He split time between the two bands but it was decided Sanction would play a last show and that would be the end... until band members Ann Straley, Kevin Wegman, Bill Sallbach, Leon Costello, and Greg Chapman reunited for a cancer benefit in 2007. Now the band plans to perform a few times a year with Ann Straley on vocals, Kevin Wegman on guitar, Bill Saalbach on drums, and Kyle Wegman on bass. Don't miss the next show!
