I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

This montage represents the last time that I made beer. Don't laugh; I'm a beginning brewer. I tried to make a Double Pale Ale - with extra ingredients - and ended up making something that tasted somewhere between a nut brown ale and nothing. Seriously, there's no aftertaste!
'Enthusiast' is a prototypically snide and pretensious word to describe someone with a predilection for something, whether it be pong, football, or - in this case - beer.
Don't you just turn your nose up at people who talk about being 'enthusiasts'? A 'football' enthusiast? Blech, huh?
Well, hopefully we here at the beer enthusiast MySpace page, we'll be able to change all of that. It's a site for those who enjoy beer...all types of beer. We'll try to steer clear of snobbery as best we can, but you'll have to meet us halfway.
No, this isn't a place to look down on other people or other types of beer. It should ALL be celebrated, and that's our intention here. Whether you enjoy a cold, American-style lager, a hoppy India Pale Ale, or even a hard cider, then you're welcome here at the Beer Enthusiast. Cheers!
This week's beer is Brooklyn Brewery's Local One. Like they say on Passmeabeer.com:
It took more than a year of planning and testing but Brooklyn Brewing has begun distributing the first beer packaged using its new bottling line and warm room.
I've got to give any beer that takes that long to perfect some props. I have a bottle of it that I'm waiting to try, so I won't review it just yet. Give it time, people.

My Interests

Well, isn't it obvious? Beer, of course. But there's more than just 'drinking' beer.

There's 'making' beer and 'tasting' beer and showing others new types of beer. Nothing's better than pairing up a person with his/her perfect brew.

And if you have a real penchant for beer, then it might behoove you to qualify yourself. Yeah, you can enter the Beer Judge Certification Program . Then none of your friends will want to drink beer with you, snob. Just kidding. I say, Go for it.

Also, check out the Beer Enthusiast Blog !

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who gets excited by and interested in beer. Namely, those who are looking for the perfect beer and continue looking because they may never find it.

Other than that, though, of course there are the major brewers and the heads of the micro breweries. Who wouldn't want to meet them?

If you are just getting started in beer drinking and want to impress your friends, talk about the process of zymurgy; it'll blow their minds. It's only the process of making beer, but they won't know that. Impress your friends. Drink Good Beer!
Below is a very small and incomplete list of the breweries we respect and admire.

Victory Brewing Company * Duvel * Ommengang * Sierra Nevada Brewing * Terrapin Beer Co. * Samuel Adams * Flying Dog * Dogfish Head Craft Brewery * Flying Fish Brewery * Clipper City Brewing *

Beer Review: Clipper City Brewing Loose Cannon

A big bold taste for a big picture. Loose Cannon is an extremely hoppy beer. That's the first and most important aspect of it. Not as hoppy as Victory's HopDevil IPA per se, but it's a hoppy, hoppy, h...
