About Me

Layout Created at KillerKiwi.net
Four talented photographers from the University of Westminster’s accredited degree programme show their most recent work in a collaborative project. Exploring themes of fantasy, alienation, perception and our own internal obstacles, the exhibition looks for new ways in which to understand the situations we collectively face. A collection of portraiture, abstract landscapes and cinematic imagery, Second Thoughts marks a progression for each contributing photographer, for some this is their first public exhibition.
NINA NYMANN
Not From Here
Focussing on the abstract, the series of misrecognised landscapes draws the viewer into an unknown world. The melancholic atmosphere and dream like aesthetic goes some way to confront what is identifiable to us and is ultimately alienating as we are faced with the prospect of reality.
MIRA SRIRAM
Dream Girls
Paying particular attention to facial expression, lighting and camera angles, Mira Sriram’s piece explores the anecdotal elements of a particular still frame, to create original stand alone images, removed from any previous context. The work communicates a sense of ambiguity in terms of space and narrative, which invites the spectator to imagine their own conclusions.
JACQUELINE WINSTON-SILK
Zulu
Zulu challenges the belief in a single fixed idea of time. It presents to the viewer the idea that time is merely a human construction, only made visible and constituted by clocks. We may experience it as fragmented, exist outside it, mark our lives by it or even play a role in its continuity. These disparities in perception are the inspiration for the portraits.
HALEY ANN YOUNG
Talk To Frank
This constructed photographic project is based on a male subject suffering from sleep deprivation. The reasons behind this are not completely obvious, but discretely implied and are very much dependent on the viewer’s individual perception.
