About Me

Vinnie Medugno is known as a triple threat. To define the term it means actor, dancer, and singer all in one person. If you want to see some entertaining and impressive performance skills, you have to witness this one-man show in his act. At the age of 8, Medugno began his singing. He often mocked the styles of major Motown groups, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and even some female high ranged singers. Today his voice is polished as a high tenor and he could still sing just about any tune he puts his hands on.At the age of 11, Vinnie made his first on stage appearance singing "That's All I Ask Of You", from the musical Phantom Of The Opera. Since that night he knew that the energy within himself, and from the audience would be the positive drive that was to keep him striving forward to become an entertainer. All throughout his middle school years he entertained in Talent shows singing songs of Frank Sinatra and other classic oldies singers. At the age of 13, Vinnie made his musical debut in his lead role as Tevye the milkman, in the time honored classic Broadway show, "Fiddler On The Roof."In the summer of 2000, Vinnie's voice took him to a higher plateau as he sang the National Anthem for the Staten Island Yankees and a sold out 2500 plus people capacity crowd. This ambition and excitement from the ovation of that crowd lead Vinnie into high school as he took on many tasks of running and starring in various roles.Sing is a student run production written, directed and produced solely by the students in the school. With that said, from Freshman year until Junior year, Medugno starred as a lead role in both shows written by his peer students in the annual Sing competition. In 2003, Vinnie wrote, directed, and produced his own original piece called "A Blast From The Past". He played one of the lead roles and that year lead his cast into a victory for the contest. He did a repeat performance of that the following year when he wrote a holiday comedy titled "Little Saint Nick". His musical appearances in Port Richmond High School include Mr. Applegate in "Damn Yankees", Dandy Dan in "Bugsy Malone", and his last performance on the stage was that of a dynamic one. He was cast as the Emcee in the heart throbbing story of the rise to fascism in Germany, none other than "Cabaret".In the summer of 2002, Vinnie made another appearance at the brand new St. George Ball Park built specially for the Staten Island Yankees. He sang God Bless America in the seventh inning stretch. Many say that Vinnie has evolved for the better as each year continues with his performances. He puts out all stops and makes each performance his best.Within these recent years, Vinnie sings and emcees for the local party scene as a disc jockey or "DJ". He enjoys interacting with crowds and singing and being the life of the party. As a Freshman at the College of Staten Island in the Fall of 2005, Vinnie took a major interest in being a Disc Jockey on the radio. He joined the WSIA family at the college and hooked up with an "old timer" named Carl Sabitino, who was the featured name on the Morning Show for four years. Vinnie joined Carl and took over the show as Carl left in the summer of 2005. The show is still a success titled “Medugno In The Morning” and can be heard to this day every Friday Morning from 7am-10am. Medugno's on-air charisma and personality was so natural and enthusiastic that the figureheads at the station asked him to host his own afternoon dance show titled "Three Decades of Dance with Vinnie Da Ginnie." He plays all of the best dance classics from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even the dance music of today every Saturday evening from 4pm-7pm. He headlined in a scene written around New York City during the holidays, he sang the Andy Williams tune "Happy Holidays, It's the Holiday Season," on stage in New York City's famous "Rainbow Room." He then appeared at the end of the show in the nativity scene with the Gospel astounding performance of “Go Tell It On the Mountain.” He also appeared in various choral scenes throughout the show. Vinnie was asked to be apart of this amazing holiday tradition after ranking First Runner Up in the theaters "Staten Island Idol" Contest. Sounds Like: Vinnie is his own separate entity from that of any other new up and coming artist. He has the classy sound of yesterday and was even reviewed to have the performance knack down to a finger snapping, head bobbing science. He is a mix of yesterday and today which creates a unique and impressive performer. Many people have classified his sound to that of today's well known artists like Michael Buble Josh Groban, and even Clay Aiken. Yet at the same time he has the young sounds of singers like Lucas Prata, Nick Lachey, Jon Secada and even his own personal idol Angelo Venuto. When seeing him on stage, moves of Elvis, Presley and Tom Jones flow from within but are made debonair with his Frank Sinatra-esque charisma. Growing up he was influenced by black singers of the Motown and Disco eras and showcases some of their fast and energetic moves when on stage. Medugno can perform styles from, Standards, to Oldies, to Motown, to Disco, R&B, Dance, Pop, and even a Show Tune every now and then. He has been compared to a wide variety of singers from the 1950s and 60s and could even hit ranges of those like Frankie Valli and Lou Christie. His range and vocal ability has yet to seize to amaze audiences of all sizes and ages. There is no telling where his voice and style will take him, but his originality and difference from all other typical artists is what sets him high above the rest.
