From the Alex M and Friends Tour to “Just the Friendsâ€, Mike White steps up to bring the disappointed fans some musical satisfaction.
Mike White was set to tour this fall with Alex M from the popular MTV series Laguna Beach, and Hip Hop artist Freestyle as a performing host. Future dates for the tour seemed uncertain as Alex M failed to show up for any of the scheduled dates so far. The tour was slated to begin on July 28th, two days after the release of Alex’s new album as well as the DVD of Laguna Beach season 3. The tour was sponsored co sponsored by Kidz Time Extreme as well as FYE.
The FYE dates that have been requested by Alex M management have been cancelled for the month of August and September due to no-shows and non contact. Needless to say sponsors are disenchanted with the whole ordeal but are willing to press on. As the support artists prepared flights, transportation and even took leaves of absences from their jobs, they were quickly let down by the abrupt news of an independent movie filming. One week before the start of the tour, artists received unofficial word that Alex M was going to be shooting a movie for the whole month of August. This pushed everyone’s hopes back, let alone created a tremendous financial burden to all involved. It was a complete shock to artists, fans and sponsors to see all of the requested dates upon Alex M’s personal myspace.com profile then to see it totally wiped off of her personal site with no explanation. Kidz Time Extreme Tour has scrambled at the last minute to try to fill those performance spots and satisfy their sponsors. It has been a tumultuous task.
In all of the havoc and uncertainty of when and if Alex M plans to continue the dates; at least the Kidz Time Extreme dates, Mike White chose to reach out to her fans by creating a tour song for the cause. It is titled “Whatchu Wantâ€. Since fans have been writing in anticipating the performances and wondering if the tour will continue, Mike White answers that by song. He has released this song as a bonus performance song to compliment his regionally distributed album “The Solo Storyâ€. A new campaign has been developed to keep the tour moving forward with Mike White as the new Headliner.
One thing for sure is that, it is not about how famous someone is in order to draw a crowd, it is about how great the music is and how they connect to the fans which are what draws new fans in.
Nothing has been officially released as to when or even if Alex M will show up for the tour dates that they have requested. For now, the support acts will turn into the headliners and will entertain the fans by giving them outstanding performances throughout the remainder of the tour dates.
