About Me

The lovely Mahogany Edwards was born in Hollywood California "I was named after the movie "Mahogany", by my father". Growing up "I had to keep myself entertained", her parents separated when she was two years old. As an only child, Mahogany turned to her creative outlets for comfort and pleasure. "I would literally spend hours standing in front of the mirror dancing, playing in make up, drawing or making beats on my keyboard".At age six her mother put her in gymnastics. "I competed so much as a child, I believe it stunted my growth..lol". Through her routines she was introduced to modern and ballet dancing. She encouraged her mother to put her through dance classes, and the following year, at age twelve, she had been accepted into 32nd st Visual Performing Arts Magnet. There, she acquired a talent for acting. She attended USC Mast for high school, a college preparatory school. During her high school years, she cultivated her talent in art and she participated and helped facilitate fashion shows, and talent shows at her school. She played Maria in Westside Story. Her life outside of school consisted of church. "I was the little innocent church-girl lol". She would write Christmas skits and choreograph lyrical dances at Inner City Christian Center. She performed with a group called N.S.P (Never Stop Prais'n). "We ministered to many people. Our main event was F.I.C WIFM at Crenshaw Christian Center". N.S.P. was a gospel rap group, consisting five members, two rappers and three dancers. "My girl V. used to choreograph for us". At age sixteen N.S.P auditioned for a choir called the Norwood Kids Foundation. "Brandy Norwood’s dad started a choir for youth. I remember auditioning and when I made it, it was the first time I had ever really recognized that I had a voice".In the year 2000, Mahogany graduated from USC Mast High school, and was accepted to her first choice, Pepperdine University where she majored in Psychology. Although her focus was on academics, Mahogany still found time for the arts. She participated in the annual show at Pepperdine, "Dance In Flight". She choreographed her own piece, her senior year. Soon after she graduated in 2004, Mahogany continued her studies and went to Antioch University for her Masters. In 2006, "I decided to take a random trip to Vegas with a friend of mine. We stayed at the Hard Rock Cafe." Mahogany was discovered by one of the casting directors for the show called "Entourage". "They were looking for models to appear in their next episode that they were shooting in the hotel". Mahogany went on the audition and landed the job. "It was so surreal, I had made more money than I had ever made in one month off that trip alone, it was truly a pivotal moment for me". She then later was requested to work on a show called "Girlfriends" as a stand-in for Maya. "There is defiantly an art to doing stand-in work. Blocking and paying attention to cues is essential". Because of her dance and acting experience, she was able to adapt well on "Girlfriends".Mahogany is now taking her modeling and acting career full force. As Mahogany continues to rise to the occasion, "in my heart, my intuition is telling me that I am heading in the right direction and nothing thus far has happened by chance". ..

Love's PhilosophyThe fountains mingle with the river And the rivers with the ocean, The winds of heaven mix for ever With a sweet emotion; Nothing in the world is single, All things by a law divine In one another's being mingle— Why not I with thine?See the mountains kiss high heaven, And the waves clasp one another; No sister-flower would be forgiven If it disdain'd its brother; And the sunlight clasps the earth, And the moonbeams kiss the sea— What are all these kissings worth, If thou kiss not me?
