Born in San Francisco in 1985, Isaac Flewellen was raised in music. Cameo, Earth Wind & Fire, Hoodini you name it he was singin’ it. But he had his limits. With gangsta rap becoming a big thing in the community and influencing a lot of his friends, his father recognised that and kept a close eye on where he put his ear....so it was alot of R&B, 70-80’s funk, until about the age of 16...With B-Nutti (of the Mercenary Family) as his best friend in high school (Phillip & Sala Burton High) he became exposed to the street... So a little swagga became apparent....Maintaining his oldies and funk roots, and kickin’ that swagga, his rap style developed along with his love for a new found type of music, Hip-Hop. Although he educated in S.F., he slept in Pride City (Richmond, CA), where he met Born Historian. Tony "Powda-T" Brandi attended JFK high w/ BH & Franchise, yet grew up in Richmore Village, 2 block’s from Icon. On one Bright, Spring, Pride City Day, Born & Icon were introduced over Joint’s & Brandy...along with, Crossword (also of Allied Intellegence). Month’s later Icon began to meet the members of S.O.S. J-Wigg, Savy-J, Yoshman, Poet, and the final peice of PCP.......Young Franchise. With the dispursment of SOS, but the love of Hip-Hop still alive, all of them continued to freestyle, make beats, listen to the truest of the truest, and discuss the essence of Hip-Hop. A common ground was reached between everyone, it wasn’t what it used to be. The musical guidence of artist like Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Wu-Tang, kept them focused and determined to bring the Soul back to the music......So with the help of D.J. Submerge, PCP & Wig Radio have begun their quest, along with so many other TRUE hip-hop artist to bring life back to the music, that now has become a symbol to so many people of death, Hip-Hop.Bornhistorian:
His mom’s gave birth to him on a stormy, rainy day at a random hospital in 1985, yet was born and raised all his life in the city of Pride and Purpose, RICHMOND Cali...he met that foo Icon Cyphercide at a mutual friends house and smoked joints all nite while listening to Heavy Metal and became koo for years after... then he met that one dude Young Franciase at JFK high school while he was going to kappa high school which was a building right behind JFK high,we ran into each other while cutting school at a project buliding across the street from school then we hotbox and smoked the hell out the wash house while people living their were washing clothes still(haha memories,we were iggnorant for that),then out of no where he drops this dope ass beat on the table with a pencil and a closed fist then bornhistorian and a bunch of our other friends with us had a Freestyle Session and people were coming in and out the wash house listening to us spit and was bobing their heads(i’ll never forget that day dam...i love HIP-HOP),"We never went back to class by the way"...after knowing these cats for years we all decided to do a song together which lead to us starting our band PRIDECITYPURPOSE...we came up with that group name because we all met and grew up in RICHMOND,CA...since then its been BOOMBAP and THISORTHAT!!! ...Young Franchise:
Young was born in B-town and lived in North Oakland for over a decade and shit. He got a feel for making beats in Emerson Elementary and it carried over to Carter Middle with rhythm and a pencil or pen. After a change of location, JFK high was the scene for raw hip-hop. After making friends such as Yoshman, Jwig, Chuckzilla, Submerge, Icon, and Born, a love for hip-hop was formed and recongnized. Now a days Young still makes beats with a pen or pencil while in the hip-hop/soul group called PRIDE CITY PURPOSE! ...
