About Me

Welcome to The Ken Conklin Blues Project. I've been playing guitar for over 25 years.I'm a founding member of the Whirlwind Blues Revue. Due to Health issue's the group disbanded . I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's at 36. This doesn't affect my ability to play Guitar, My doctor's assured me that I have many good years ahead of me. With some modest home studio and computer based recording equipment I'm able to record some of the original tune's than have been bouncing around in my head. The 1st song on my playlist is a tune called 'Mr. Whoopee' that I wrote and recorded with the Whirlwind Blues Revue in 1998. The others are Demo's I made for the band using midi backing tracks. The last tune is a Jerry Garcia Tribute I did a week after he passed away.I told the bassist & drummer in that band that I wanted to do a Jerry tribute. The both of them being unfamiliar with the music of the Dead vetoed the idea..So at the end of the set...I just stepped up to the Mic and did it any way!! (Not all to bad for off the cuff?) I hope I did Jerry proud. Jerry Garica was my 1st inspiration to play Guitar. The morning after my 1st Dead show in 1981. I took my Father's beat up ole' harmony guitar out of his closet determined to learn. It's been a long strange trip, And I haven't put the Guitar down since.
