Greetings,blessings,and salutations my brothers and sisters in the Lord.Most know me as Ty Toney,but you can call me "Tru".Here's my testimony so you can have a better understanding as to who I am and where the "Tru" name came from.It's somewhat of a long story but I'll keep it brief............See I was a so-called "church boy".My mother,an evangelist(Evangelist Charlotte Toney),kept me in the church as much as possible.She directed me towards God so I might know who God is,and she taught me to understand that salvation was my first priority and that everything else came second.But most know that the lives of most church kids aren't as sweet as they are percieved to be.We tend to go through just as much as everyone else does,if not more.But,as I grew older and older my steps moved further and further away from God and His plan for me.In my mid-to-early teens,I had becomed consumed with the common teenager lifestyle (secular music,sex,and other things).I was basically livng the opposite of His plan for me,1John 2:16.Which says "For all these things,the lust of the flesh,the lust of the eyes,and the pride of life,is not of the Father,but is of this world." I started hanging around with the wrong crowd and began persuing the things that,at the time, I thought were important.All while I was singing, playing the drums and piano in church;believing as long as when I played and sangI was glorifying God that I was gauranteed to make it to Heaven.....Eventually my sin caught up with me and I was forced to take a second look at myself.I had to examine my heart and really ask myself if I was really as "saved" as I said and acted when I was in church and around other saved people.My answer was an overwhelming NO!So I asked God to deliver me from my sinful behavior so that I may do what He had called me to do......reach through music and preaching that would hopefully prick uriousity until they can do nothing else but give their heart and lives to Him.....
For the past year or two I have been striving to be more like Him and giving my heart to Him so through Him, the music that He gives me to minister with would help turn our eyes back to Him.
As of now I am working on putting together a double album/mixtape of sorts to help draw not just the unsaved, but the saved souls back to a relationship with God.It is entitled "No Compremise".Disc A (all rap) will focus on the difference between secular artists and the gospel artists of today.
