About Me

To know me is to love me.....or too hate me (but who want's to do that). In a nutshell...Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.
--George Bernard Shaw

Getting older, growing wiser, creating a better me. Handling what life gives me meanwhile trying to make the best of it. Constantly finding more about myself and creating ways to make me better. Always positive, never negative, undefinable...constantly evolving.

My Interests

Reading, sleeping (when I can), laughing, cooking, shopping (it's an unbreakable habit...I've tried), writing, working logic puzzles, playing sudoku, spending time with my family and friends.

I'd like to meet:

Reconnecting with some old contacts....making new ones perhaps.

Music:

I believe that jazz is the best music ever created. Some old school favorites The Duke, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Horne, etc... Newer school favorites...Oscar Peterson, Ledisi, Dee Dee Bridgewater, etc...

Currently in rotation: Check out Alice Smith ya'll. If you like good music...you won't be able to keep it from playing. Also, the new Rahsaan Patterson is hot...as expected.

In general, I rock to everything from Jazzyfatnastees to Justin Timberlake...from Stevie Wonder to Lenny Kravitz.

Movies:

Top 5 (in no particular order):Tommy Boy, My Best Friend's Wedding, Mary Poppings (LOL...yep, I said it!), Love Jones, and You've Got Mail

Television:

Always and forever a Friends fan!! I'm a huge Nick at Nite fan too (Cosby Show, Who's the Boss, etc... Oh, and a small weakness for some cartoons (Kim Possible, Arthur, and Hey, Arnold). What can I say, I'm a child at heart.

Books:

When you've read enough/own enough books to have a personal library....it's hard to pick favorites. LOL.

Heroes:

My mom, grandma, and my aunts. The women in my family inspire me to be the most successful woman, the most loving (future) mother & wife, and the most faithful child of God I can be.

My Blog

For a second I felt like a kid...

Remember kickball, ya'll? Or tee-ball? Or any of those games we used to play when we were young and in shape? Yeah, so disappointed at the lethargic bum I've become, I decided to take c...

Isn't it kinda sad, that with all the wonderful things in our lives, it sometimes takes only one little incident to turn our smiles into frowns: one insignificant remark or action from someone can sen...

This little is piggy...is cold!

Why is it that the car floor vents are mostly aimed towards the left side of the drivers space? Am I the only one wondering this during these COLD winter days and nights. It's really causing...

A lesson learned...from cartoons? Yep...Bob and Larry save the day!

I love shoes.  You know that right?  I recently counted all of my shoes...171 pair.  But that includes winter shoes (boots, etc...), summer shoes (sandles, open toe. etc...), and year-r...

Its not Thanksgiving, but&.

I'd rented Cars earlier this week (yes, I like cartoon movies).  The DVD was due yesterday but I forgot to take it so I figured it would be best to drop it off before work.  --sidebar --&nbs...

Can I get a booth?: A Restaurant Tale

Most of you are aware that I work part-time as a hostess at a downtown restaurant.  Most of you also know that I'm not a people person and have very little tolerence for idiots and whinners. ...

Though I love...LOVE to shop, there is one department store that sends me into convulsions everytime I think of it.  Maybe my friends in the DC area will be the only ones to sympathize...but I HA...
