My Interests

daydreaming, live music, sitting in the park, indie films, eavesdropping, travel, bad reality tv, skeeball, people watching, being outside, being inside, procrastinating, veg cooking (and eating), laughing, photography (digital and film, black&white and color), making moody ipod playlists, health law and policy (i think social justice is a good thing), trivial pursuit, scrabble, getting on my high horse, getting thrown off my high horse, compassion, passion, emotional integrity

I'd like to meet:

the ones i want to meet are the ones who are passionate about and devoted to doing good work for humanity and social change, and at least equally passionate about and devoted to the people they love. if this makes sense to you, i might wanna meet you.

Music:

r.e.m., blur, the clash, bjork, radiohead, stevie wonder, johnny cash, sonic youth, nirvana, velvet underground, belle & sebastian, flaming lips, bonnie prince billy, jane's addiction, ani difranco, david bowie, iron & wine, wilco, louis armstrong, dirty three, patti smith, polyphonic spree, noises i hear that get stuck in my head for weeks and form their own songs and symphonies

Movies:

Labyrinth (all time favorite), This is Spinal Tap, Dazed and Confused, Fantasia, Breakfast Club, Ma Vie en Rose, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, Coming to America, Singin' in the Rain, Edward Scissorhands, Wayne's World, Spellbound, Big Lebowski, Heathers, Princess Bride, Neverending Story, A Charlie Brown Christmas (even though i am a jew)

Television:

The Daily Show, Simpsons, The Office, Da Ali G Show, Kids in the Hall, Frontline, Jeopardy, My So-Called Life, The State, Family Guy, PeeWee's Playhouse, The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, offensive reality tv, local news shows from cities other than my own (every single one has a skydiving grandma or waterskiing squirrel story - these are the things that unite us as humans)

Books:

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf, Poetry anthologies - Allen Ginsburg, Pablo Neruda, Walt Whitman

Heroes:

i think my heroes change all the time, depending on who is particularly inspiring me at the time and what in me needs inspiring.but if i had to choose one, (hero is a weird term, but, say, an inspiration or role model or just downright kickass person) it'd be my grandma, hands down.
