Police have arrested five suspected bank robbers, including two policemen, hours after they hit the Vito Cruz, Malate, Manila branch of the Allied Bank Tuesday.The suspects were presented to media Tuesday night following their arrest in Pasay City by joint operatives of the Western Police District and the Southern Police District.Seized from the suspects were a .45 cal. pistol and one 9mm pistol.Police said they were able to pinpoint the suspect’s hideout after witnesses saw the getaway vehicle enter a compound in Balagtas, Pasay City.Earlier, reports said two of the suspects entered the bank near the Harrison Plaza and announced a hold-up.But alert bank security guards shot it out with the robbers before the police arrived.The bank robbers fled during the brief firefight, taking with them two duffle bags full of money taken from the tellers. They failed to open the bank’s steel vault.A bystander, identified as Daniel Moss, was hit by a stray bullet during the shootout.Reports said the suspects, numbering more than 10, were armed with M-14 and M-16 rifles.The robbers fled aboard a green Toyota Revo with plate no. XTR 832 and a van.
