Formed in 2006, Artificial Workshop's remit is to produce electro-art-pop with symphonic allusions. Because their tracks are painstakingly assembled bit by bit, they do not consider themselves musicians. For Artificial Workshop – who's avowed mission in sound is the construction of pleasure – the pure pop moment will always remain unashamedly manufactured.

Hail the Weave - more peaks and troughs, warp and weft.

Artificially yours …

Band Members: Keyboard, Screen, Mike, Mouse, Guitar
Influences: Our holy trinity, for sonic prescience and aesthetic purity:
Suicide's first LP (the A side) and 'Dream Baby Dream'; Ramones first 3 LPs - for beating on the brat, and "…Oh Oh, I love her so…" - and Kraftwerk … naturellement.
And in no particular order, and probably more for inspiration than influence:
Brian Wilson - esp. the wilderness years; Post '65 Beach Boys - esp. their punk album 'Love You'; Grizzly Bear's 'Yellow House'; Mouse On Mars - always an inspiration; Talking Heads' first 2 LPs - esp. 'Stay Hungry'; Scritti Politti (the quintessentially 80s 12" mixes); Giorgio Moroder's 70s productions - esp. 'I Feel Love'; Mellow's 'Perfect Colours' - cruelly underrated; The camp symphonic pop genius that is ELO; Fischerspooner doing pop; Harry Nillson before the alcohol kicked in; ACR with Simon Topping; Sagittarius: 'Another Time' with Curt Boettcher's sublimely beautiful androgynous vocal; Belle & Sebastian - consummate pop-song writers - wish we could do that!; David Bowie circa 'Low' and 'Heroes'; AIR (check that tubular bell in 'Venus'!); Chic's machine-like precision playing; The Millenium's 'Begin'; Tortoise; Television first 2 LPs esp. 'See No Evil'; Caribou; Andrew Gold: 'Never Let Her Slip Away'; Phoenix - esp. first 2 albums; Scott Walker; The Raveonettes; High Llamas; Wire as pop band - esp. 'Outdoor Miner' and 'Our Swimmer'; Harpers Bizarre; The Beatles - esp. 'Come Together'; Man Parrish's 'Hip Hop Be Bop (Don't Stop)'; Can; Hot chip; Van Dyke Parks; Schneider TM; Justice; Steely Dan; The Strokes; Shuggy Otis; Miracle Fortress; The Velvet Underground; 10cc - the singles; Super Furry Animals; Daft Punk's 'Discovery' - esp. 'Digital Love'; Sly & the Family Stone - esp. 'Loose Booty'; Nick Drake - esp. those melancholic cascading strings on 'River Man'; Lipps Inc.: 'Funkytown';
Sounds Like: Fuzzy Rhodes, klangy guitars, fat moogs, luscious strings, swirly flutes, pumping drums
