I am here for Friends

About Me

I am not the smartest, the wittiest, the most charming or the most handsome man you will ever meet. (Though I have been called educated and rougishly handsome.) Nor am I the tallest, most muscular or the best hung! (Though I would like to think of myself as a 'big' person.) I do not say all the right words, know all the latest songs, eat at the trendiest restaurants, nor wear designer suits. (Though I do have a degree in Literature, enjoy all kinds of music, have some wonderful haunts that I frequent and clean up very nicely.) All I know about wine is that there are three kinds, white, red and champagne. (But I know what tastes good to me and that all that really matters.) I laugh out loud at movies, but can be serious as well. I talk to the television set and hope it doesnt talk back. I have faults and embrace them. I believe in magic and spirits. I have a sense of humor that boarders on the bizzare. I am rough around the edges and and am comfy with that. I can’t say I wouldn’t like to improve myself, but I can say I am damn content with who I am. So,....If you are looking for Mr. Perfect, your Knight in Shining Armour or Superman you have come to the wrong page. But if you want to meet a real person, read on.I am old enough to know better then to be here in the first place. But I am here anyway. As a great poet once said, “I know by going where I have to go”. My children are thriving as adults, my work is pleasing and pays the bills and other then that my time is my own. So, I pretty much do, whatever the hell I want! I enjoy learning new things and always enjoy a new adventure. My ‘wants’ range from very common type things like going to the beach, catching a movie, the occasional martini, a roaring fire and a good book; to more complex things like travel, fine dining, the theater, museums, playing poker and discussing politics. I also love to laugh and make others laugh. So I am here to find someone who likes to have fun, be active, who likes to think and who likes to get out in their free time. I am not necessarily looking for a soul mate, a wife, or even a girlfriend. I would rather have a real best friend. But I will start with someone who has similar interests who, when I suggest we catch a show, meet for dinner, or hit the RI beaches, will look at it as a chance to get out and have fun.I am also here to amuse and express myself through my writing. It is not great, but it is improving (I think). I have learned a lot by doing it and learn much about others through reading their writing. If there is anything else you would like to know, just ask! I don't bite.....much!Be real with me and I will be real with you!

My Interests

I am very ecclectic and enjoy many things. Perfoming and visual arts, as well as dining out (both a great resturaunts as well as funky local places)and travel are near the top of the list. I also enjoy comedy clubs and big concerts. I like sports but much more when I can see them live. Tournament poker (Not gambling) is a passion. I love magic! Being at the beach and by the water is at the very top....

I'd like to meet:

This is a trick question, right? Someone who wants me, but does not need me. Other then that, I don't know, as I have not met her yet. No preconceived notions. For now I just want to have fun, and enjoy life!It will help if you understand this quote and if it resonates with you: "Imagination is the spur of delights...all depends upon it, it is the mainspring of everything; now, is it not by means of the imagination one knows joy? Is it not of the imagination that the sharpest pleasures arise?"

Music:

I have to admit I love classic rock. I saw Janis Joplin, The Who, Airplane and many other extrodinary concerts and performers. I very much enjoy live concerts.

Movies:

Bring on the psycho thrillers...also any movies dealing with casinos, Oceans 11, 12 and soon to be 13 were all great keep em coming...

Television:

mostly comedy. I love to laugh. Also CSI, Vegas, Two and a Half Men and Survivor...

Books:

I love to curl up with a good book, or with a woman who has read one. Mostly psycho thrillers and historical novels. Patrica Cornwall and James Patterson are two of my favorites. Laura Reese is another, though lesser known.

Heroes:

My daughters, Eleanor and Olivia...they are my inspiration...and joys

Bush, The Economy and Reminiscenses of a Wall Street Refugee-Update

As I am sure none of you will remember, on August 17, 2007 I wrote a blog with the above title.  It basically contained my warning about what I forsaw in the ecomony. My blog ended with the ...

Mea Culpa

Every once in a blue moon I make a rash, unadvised comment or post.  (OK maybe it is more then once in a while, but I am looking for charity here so play along, OK).  It would seem that...

Saying it Now

I do not usually repost tear jerkers or vinettes that seem contrived or are otherwise mushy.  But I am about to do so here.  Maybe I am doing so because of the recent loss of my friend David...
