I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I take good care of myself. I'm a very reliable and supportive friend, even long-distance. I'm a tough-guy on the outside, but sensitive on the inside. I can laugh at myself with my friends. I have a low tolerance for bullshit and can be refreshingly blunt in the right situtation (ie, if I feel comfortable and no one's feelings are involved). I like quirky people. I'm affectionate, creative and adventurous. I'd rather see a play than a movie and I'd rather talk to you in person than online. As part of my bonus package, I come in three languages. My birthday coincides with international talk like a pirate day! (you'll never forget it again, will ya matey?) http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html

My Interests

All kinds of outdoor and active stuff, especially hiking and swimming. Photography, writing, singing, yoga, theater, gardening, crosswords, dancing, parlor games.

I'd like to meet:

A. Sturdy friends for hiking, camping, playing, eating, exploring, laughing, hugging, confiding.[B. Sassy, intelligent gals for flirting, dating, smooching in addition to any or all of the above. But please be emotionally available, honest and capable of being loved. (Can you believe it? I found her! Sorry gals, I got "B" covered)]

Music:

I'm a fan of folk, bossa-nova, jazz, hip-hop, house, reggae, and I love to be introduced to new music.

Movies:

Waiting for Guffman, Zoot Suit, The Kathy and Mo Show, Brazil, Time Bandits, Off the Map, Capote, Truly Madly Deeply, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, I Heart Huckabees, Being John Malkovich, lots of independent stuff.

Television:

I don't own a TV but I love pulic radio. I'm a huge "This American Life" aficionado. Have a weakness for "A Prairie Home Companion" and "Car Talk" as well. Pacifica Radio rules, too, but I guess I'd have to move back to Cali to hear that and I'd rather just live with the void.

Books:

My favorite books that I've read in English of late are Life of Pi and anything by David Sedaris. I'm mostly an aficionado of the novel and the more experimental and metafictional the better.

Heroes:

Kali, Sor Juana, St. Catherine of Alexandria, Anne Bonney, Mary Read (those were some bitchin' babes). Don Quijote (hey, we'd go crazy if we didn't go crazy).
