Books:

Currently reading Bettina Apthekers "Intimate Politics"Jung Chang "Wild Swans" is one of my favorite books ever! The only book that ever made me cry. Its a social history of China told through the biography of Jung Changs mother and Grandmother and Greatgrandmother. It shows how the lives of the women in her family changed through Imperial China, nationalist and communist China. She just can out with a book on the life of Mao Tse Tung."Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins. "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire and seeing the musical with Gina "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer. Its a social history of Mormon Fundamentalism that reads like a horror story a la the stepford wives. Its kicking my ass right now. Also Im starting "Consumed" by Benjamin Barber about how consumerism is creating a society of infantilized adults and uncontrollable children.Im really into the spiritual teachings of Eckart Tolle, especially THE POWER OF NOW and A NEW EARTH: AWAKENING TO YOUR LIFES PURPOSE. His work is an amazing mix of Taoism, Zen and Spiritual Christianity. Its a very practical guide to changing your consciousness.Disciplined minds,Rebels and Devils A Psychology of Liberation. Culture of Narcissism by Christopher Lasch.....Anything by Julia Kristeva, Feminist Psychoanalytic Theory. Im reading "Interpretation of Dreams". Love Freud, Lacan, Jacqueline Rose "States of Fantasy". Of course, Marx. .Anything by Thomas Frank on American popular culture. I actually want to get into reading more cookbooks and starting cooking alot of new things again. Political stuff. Ward Churchill, "Agents of Repression: A history of Cointelpro" Satanic Bible My favorites fictional authors are Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Morrison, and George Orwell. I grew up reading several books by Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury and Kurt Vonnegut. Thats my father's influence upon me I suppose.I love social and political commentary. I love Anais Nin too.

Heroes:

My parents. All people who lay down in front of train tracks to stop trains carrying weapons made with our tax dollars to kill people i dont know in a far away land. Fernando Suarez de Solar. My best friend (I wont write her name). Emma Goldman, Alexander Berkman, Karl Marx, Sojourner Truth. Rosa Luxembourg...Subcomandante Marcos.
