My son, music, coffee- I'm a coffee snob, photography/photo preservation/photo albums/custom framing, college football (GO BADGERS!), cooking (and eating!), a good tequila to sip on, teens/teen counseling (my pre-mom profession). I love people- their stories, how they came to be who they are now.
I'd like to re-meet a lot of people I've lost touch with over the years... If anyone knows where Todd Adams or Brian Dougherty are, let me know!! These are some of my favorite people and memories from over the years!
Mostly "happy music" that I can sing and dance to. Music that reminds me of good times, like dancing and sweating in my bra in Ray's basement; seeing Skid Row at The Metro with Eric, Amy, and Jen (March 30th, 1989); Ray Charles cuz of the small intimate private concert I saw with Len; hearing GreenDay played on WDGC when Mike and I were sitting in my room... and Mike and I walking over to DGN with flowers for the DJ; dancing to Sly and the Family Stone with Jen; dancing in a black teddy and boots to Harry Connick Jr for... maybe I should leave it at that; driving thru the Arboretum with John Cougar Mellencamp with Jen; dancing at the old R&R Station in Madison at a Tesla concert that I went to alone- and it was the best ever!; flying kites with Jen a pitcher of koolaide a boom box and a Michael Jackson cassette; The Romantics "What I Like About You" but I hear Judd singing it in my head; roller skating in Elena's basement to Sean Cassidy 8-Tracks! (God, I'm old!); drinking to the Steve Miller Band at 514 Mifflin; Billy Idol's "Mony Mony" still makes me do a horrible pom-pon routine; rocking Colton to sleep with John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy"... so many great memories. My iPod has everything, the range includes: Storm Large, Mozart, Dropkick Murphys, Ella Fitzgerald, U2, Violent Femmes, The Cure, 2Pac, Operation Ivy, Bob Marley, Sex Pistols, Cheap Trick, Dead or Alive, Fugazi, Taj Mahal, the Go-Gos, Allister, Chili Peppers, Jordis Unga, Thin Lizzy, Jettingham, Chicago, Buddy Holly, Bon Jovi, The Killers, Prince, the Stones, John Cougar Mellencamp, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lukas Rossi, Depeche Mode, Goo Goo Dolls, The Ramones, Steve Miller Band, The Living End, Duke Ellington, The Sundays, Tesla, Save Ferris, Sly and the Family Stone, The Mr. T Experience, Jane's Addiction, Pixies, The Buzzcocks, The Stinky Puffs, and LOTS and LOTS of Green Day. Well, that names a few.
Amadeus, Better Off Dead, Waitress, Ferris Buller's Day Off, Memento, Billy Madison, Little Miss Sunshine, Parenthood, Being John Melcovich, Pricilla- Queen of the Desert. Pretty much anything that makes me laugh. Anything John Cusack, Matt Dillon, or Johnny Depp.
Conan O'Brien every night- he's hysterical!! Rock of Love with Bret Michaels- yup, I still love a man with great abs, tattoos, and eyeliner. CSI- all of them, but Las Vegas is the best. Scrubs. Seinfeld or Friends reruns. Way too much Sponge Bob and Fairly Odd Parents. When I feel girlish What Not To Wear- I could use one of those episodes for myself.
Rolling Stone magazine- it counts! Sadly, I pretty much only read children's books now. My favorite books are usually non-fiction, psychological thrillers, like "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote or "Helter Skelter." Or Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse 5."
My grandmother. She was a fast-pitch softball catcher back in the days when women stayed home in aprons. She could outrun all the boys in town. She had crippling arthritus, and never complained. She was a bit mischeivious, with the greatest twinkle in her eyes.
