Myspace Layoutsi am now an upper-east sider....park avenue girl, really :-) but i reverse commute to CT, so i spend a lot of time reading on trainsmy most recent travels were to hyderabad, india...i love india and i want to go backI am a master of public health, it's one of my passions...I've survived Katrina, went back to help out/study in NOLA....i have spent a lot of time in paris (i lived there for 1 1/2 years) so i'm addicted to wine, chocolate, good food, and relaxing....i love cities and photography and meeting new and interesting people....amazing music is key to my ability to live life to the fullest, not to mention good literature....anything that expands my worldview...

My Interests

rediscovering traveling by train-exploring the east coast, walking in cities, literature, politics in africa (i'm trying to read more about various places), biking by the lakes in mn, exercising, french, photography, music, wine, coffee, cool people....and new things

Music:

in no particular order.....bob dylan, beatles, POS, sufjan stevens, azure ray, magnolia electric co., songs ohia, block party, hefner, bright eyes, iron and wine, calexico, cat power, manu chao, tv on the radio, spoon, talib kweli, masta ace, bright eyes, common, ani difranco, arcade fire, portishead, modest mouse, mickey 3D, tete, les nubians, rap, hip-hop, indie, jazz, folk, blue grass...so basically everything except country (but i love the good, old stuff).....the more music i think about i become overwhelmed by all there is that is amazing and beautiful-it hurts my head right now so i'm going to stop

Movies:

the lives of others-see it!..namesake (made me miss india), notes on a scandal, volver, water/earth/fire-beautiful trilogy by a great indian woman, science of sleep, la haine, bleu blanc rouge, napoleon dynamite, ma vie en rose, motorcycle diaries, old school, royal tenanbaums, city of god, the decalogue (just watched it again and it's still as intense)...so many others, but i'm a bit of a film snob princess bride, mary poppins was my fav as a kid

Television:

i just don't watch much tv, i'd rather watch a good film (csi and law & order svu being my weaknesses)....but i do miss watching OC regularly with naila :-)

Books:

currently reading a passage to india....through the children's gate-fun book about life in nyc, pathologies of power (i am a public health nerd), a continent for the taking, the namesake, white teeth, brothers karamosov, black girl in paris, reading lolita in tehran, les miserables, life of pi, basically i'll read anything when i have/make the time....

Heroes:

my family, my best friend erin.....and the exceptional people throughout history who challenge norms and inspire us all to contribute to the world in unique ways
