About Me

Coming from a creative process that’s both inspired and reflected upon, “The Day I Choked” celebrates the first effort of the Montreal-based band Mordekai The Falcon. The result opposes both warm and comforting sounds to a wide range of disturbing and challenging moods. Channelled into a unified patchwork of personal and eclectic backgrounds, the music of the band was inspired by the sincerity of such recordings as those of Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine and Sigur Ros. Therefore, “The Day I Choked” invites the listener through a journey into an intimate universe where folk meets the energy of indie rock, all the while bathing in a sparse, but yet touching, electronic soundscape.“The Day I Choked” was shaped by long time collaborators and music accomplices Michel Dupuy (vocals, acoustic guitar, songwriting and lyrics) and Hugo Iannuzzi (guitars, songwriting, sound engineering, producing, mixing) who were also part of the band The Suspicious Looking Waiters in the 90’s. Underlining the irony and the paradox of the era we live in, the melody induced songs of Mordekai The Falcon shed some light on the fear and the inability of one to face the everyday tasks of our so-called modern world. To support the two main songwriters for the live performances of Mordekai The Falcon, the band also includes professional music scholars: David Gaudreau on bass, Catherine Sauvé on piano and Luc Catellier on drums. Finally, we shall not forget the input of Philippe Massabki (Cowboy Junkies, Plume) at the helm for the mastering and of the lovely Martine Groulx (Camaromance, SOPREF) who gracefully lent her voice on some of the tracks of the album.------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------Fruit d’un processus de création inspiré et réfléchi, « The Day I Choked » représente le premier album du groupe montréalais Mordekai The Falcon.
