I ran into Tae at an art show he was having in Olympia last summer and asked him if it'd be alright if I set up a MySpace page for Kicking Giant. He said, "Sure!" So here it is. Hope you like it!
I remember the first time I heard Kicking Giant. Through some kind of fanzine networking, I'd become pen pals with Tae while he and Rachel were going to school together in New York City. He sent me a Kicking Giant cassette and I couldn't believe how great it was. Such pure and raw song craft! It was exactly the sound I'd been wanting to hear, but no one was doing it. Total Love Rock! Tae and Rachel soon moved to Olympia, Washington and I felt fortunate to see them play live many times. What a wonderful band! Plus they are two of the nicest, coolest people you could hope to meet. Kicking Giant released three cassettes, a few singles, appeared on some compilations and put out two albums between 1989 and 1994. That's lot to love.
Anyway, this is a very special band to me. Tae and Rachel have touched my life and inspired me in ways that I can't accurately recount here. I'm sure many people who know them and their music feel the same way.
