I'm really into ferrin (foreign) hip-hop these days. Checkity-check yosef some M.I.A. , a refugee from Sri Lanka now in Brittania, also in England: Lady Sovereign, the Streets, & Dizzee Rascal; from Cuba: Esquadro Patriota; HALCALI from Japan; and from Mexico: Control Machete - the most bombastic, musically rich hip-hop I have found to date.
Also diggin' the new Solvents CD (neither a chick nor a rap act, though the band does contain a talented female violinist).
... and Now ...I've been checkin' some J-Rock @ the Hollywood Knitting Factory. Of Note:
Eastern Youth - who've been compared to Fugazi, but make your own decision -&- Polysics - in the tradition of DEVO, 6-finger Satellite, et al., with really high energie.
check out Keikaku for more of these eastern delicacies.
Deathbilly Motocycle Roundup, My Name Is Earl, Henry Rollins' Talk Show, Takeshi's Castle (a.k.a Most Extreme Challenge Elimination)
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Stranger in a Strange Land, Neuromancer, Illuminatus!, Everything is Under Control, Rule by Secrecy.
