Goodnight Mr. Howard is the first single to be taken from Mostyn's forthcoming solo album Heavy Lifting.
Penned by one of this country's most eloquent lyricists, Quro, Goodnight Mr Howard is as much a reflection on 11 years of the Australian Liberal Government's lies, bullying and arrogance, as it is a celebration marking the end of an era.
A taste of things to come from Mostyn and friends, this release also signals the birth of Playdirt Records, whose promise for a new wave of mature and honest Australian releases should ensure the further diversifying of our much beloved local sound.
With a long list of notable collaborators Heavy Lifting reflects a depth of ideas and sonic experience.
Guests include Quro (Fuglemen, Upshot); Sereck (Celsius, Def Wish Cast); BVA (Mnemonic Ascent, F & D); Muskrat (Fuglemen); Sandro ; A Love and 13th Son.
Hailing originally from Adelaide, Mostyn and Quro have been making music together since the mid 1990’s. After coming together to work on the second Fuglemen album and then Quro's first solo album This Last Week I've… the pair moved to Sydney, forming the group Reference Point.
Since Reference Point Mostyn and Quro have continued to collaborate and release music, separately and together. Quro released a second solo record and fronted Upshot. Mostyn focused on his beats, producing and remixing tracks for a number of compilations and other local releases.
Let’s hope that this year will indeed be the year for change.
Enjoy.
