New Yorks IMU was born in 1993, just as the wave of alternative music reached the flood stage. Although influenced by this sound, IMU's fiercely independant style contrasts sharply with the angst-ridden sound alikes clogging the airways. IMU probes the dark side of the human condition without toppling over the edge. Drawing from diverse musical sources as well as their own souls, these are four guys who can mount a sonic assault on the emptiness of modern life in one song, and downshift into moodier terrain of unrequited love in the next, un-stripped and vision in tact. IMU"s lyrics are written by lead vocalist JOHNNY, whose unflinching gaze upon this chaotic worlds yields no easy answers. The music is composed by lead guitarist CUBE, bassist ZEKE, and drummer JAMES. Layering the lyrics over musical structures is where the IMU alchemy takes place. Despite divergent backgrounds, the four are united in their passion for music and their unique approach. IMU peers fearlessly into the heart of darkness, unlikely to be frightened by what it sees. Intrigued by the demons within, IMU will simply report the truth.
