Whats It Gonna Take?

You can always judge the character of a man by how he treats someone who can do nothing for him.

About Me

This Page is for those that give a shite~ Express yourself~
I'm what you get when you blend Michael Collins with Mahatma Gandhi~ Daven...
I AM NOT AFRAID TO CHANGE MY WORLD....
....that sudden epiphany experienced when life comes crashing down around you....as the dust settles...you realize....this chaos is what will move you...and this barren landscape is the perfect foundation on which to build your new life...the perfect peace found in the knowledge that you can only move higher from here.....and the intensity of all of this is exactly what you needed to push you outside your static comfort zone and propel you into the heart of why you're really here..........that is where my feet stay planted~ Jessica...
I'm a guy whose not afraid to take a stand against foolish acts of war, violence, genocide, and all the other bullshit that occupies the thoughts and actions of the modern leaders of the world today, the politicians and even the citizens and civillians. ~Kelley/IN...
“Each day, life will send you little windows of opportunity. Our destiny is ultimately defined by how we respond to these windows of opportunity. Shrink from them and your life will be small. Feel the fear and run to them anyway, and your life will be large.” ~Robin Sharma
Refuse to fall down. If you cannot refuse to fall down, refuse to stay down, lift your heart toward heaven like a hungry beggar, ask that it be filled and it will be filled. You may be pushed down. You may be kept from rising. But no one can keep you from lifting your heart toward heaven-only you. It is in the middle of misery that so much becomes clear. The one who says nothing good came of this is not yet listening. ~Clarissa Pinkola
May the teachings of those you admire become part of you, so that you may call upon them. Remember, those whose lives you have touched and who have touched yours are always a part of you, even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. It is the content of the encounter that is more important than its form. May you not become too concerned with material matters, but instead place immeasurable value on the goodness in your heart. Find time in each day to see beauty and love in the world around you. Realize that each person has limitless abilities, but each of us is different in our own way. What you may feel you lack in one regard may be more than compensated for in another. What you feel you lack in the present may become one of your strengths in the future. May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility. Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience. May you find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by yourself, and not be dependent on another's judgment of your accomplishments. May you always feel loved. ~Sandra Sturtz
"We know, surely as we are alive, that the whole human race is dancing on the edge of the grave.......
The easiest and worst mistake we could make would be to blame our present dilemma on the mere technology of war....
It is our attitudes toward war and our use for it that really demand our attention......"
--Gwynne Dyer War
"For a thirsty person, not even a thousand pictures of other people drinking water will do any good. Only drinking water will do."
Do you want peace?
May God grant us the wisdom to discover the right....
The will to choose it....
And the strength to make it endure....
Justice will only exist where those not effected by injustice are filled with the same amount of indignation as those offended. ~Plato
All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing. ~Edmund Burke
A small boy looked up a star and began to weep
And the star said, 'Boy, why are you weeping?'
And the boy said, "You are so far away...I will never be able to reach you..."
And the star answered, 'Boy, if I were not already in your heart....you would not be able to see me."
I guess the same goes for peace.....
GET YOUR KIDS INVOLVED!
"Peace Pictures to Muslim Kids" gives American children a way to do something personally to bring more peace to the world.
The goal is 200,000 American Peace Pictures to be distributed to children in Islamic Countries. The focus is on the majority of Middle East children who are illiterate. Communicating graphically to such children is critical. We are especially interested in getting the kids-to-kids peace message to places where children are being taught to Hate America.
The concept behind the program is that if the world of tomorrow is to be freed from violence and war, it is the kids of today who must lead the way.

Not sure if these guys have made plans for 2008 yet but here's some info for both musicians and music lovers on their project...
The Music for Peace Project is a global effort to fill the world with music as a call for peace. By coordinating a vast number of concerts worldwide between March 30 - April 1, 2007, The Music for Peace Project will bring popular and media attention to international peace efforts while building a global community of active, socially conscious artists. Dedicated to cultivating peace as both a means and an end, The Music for Peace Project creates a global celebration of peace and provides a voice for the vibrant community that believes in peaceful solutions for the future.
Over the last three years, the Musicians' Alliance for Peace has sponsored over 350 concerts in 30 countries in the course of three 3 day weekends. This international, non-partisan call for peace was shared with audiences as diverse as the music itself.
To help us reach our goal this year of 500 concerts spanning every continent in three days, we are asking musicians worldwide to perform in the name of peace between March 30 - April 1, 2007, or to dedicate a pre-existing concert to the project. All you have to do is fill out a simple 30-second online form: any musician can participate. You can write MAP at [email protected]
Music has the power to inspire compassion and foster understanding between cultures while deepening the bonds that form our communities. Please consider joining this effort and help create a global community of musicians committed to universal responsibility.
How to help:
Ideas for your concert
* A Music for Peace Story: We had a mixed media event where we performed in a cafe/bar space all six Bach suites for cello with 6 performers. We filled the walls with various mediums of art work and in between each Bach suite we took time for people to walk around and look at the art, played short artistic and eclectic videos on a projector, and had a large assortment of mostly middle eastern food. The event was packed and the atmosphere was amazing, everyone seemed to love the idea of music for peace, the performance space couldn't have been better. *
A global community of musicians committed to change. "Be the change you want to see in the world." —Gandhi: The Musicians' Alliance for Peace begins a new chapter. Always wanted to start a music for peace project in your own community? Interested in actively running MAP? Have just a little time to offer? Have a great idea and want to share it?
MAP has reorganized to allow you run and improve MAP itself. With as little as 15 minutes per week you can help us build a culture of universal responsiblity. If so, please visit our new MAP Facilitation Page.
7 Ways to Help with The Music for Peace Project 2007
1. Join the Project and play for 2 minutes or 2 hours, or submit a preexisting concert during the March 30 - April 1 weekend or organize a concert for friends. Skill is NOT a prerequisite, just heart.
2. Spread the word. Send the Music for Peace Project E-mail to everyone you know who might be interested. Contact anyone performing a concert in your state or country and ask them to sign up. For that matter, contact people everywhere! Print out ten Music for Peace Project fliers and post them in your community--universities, coffee shops, peace and justice centers, community centers are good locations.
3. Add a MAP banner to your website. Make the ideals of Music for Peace part of your musical community and help spread the word.
4. Do you want to help organize MAP? We have set up a new Facilitation Page. If you or anyone you know are interested in helping MAP with one of the listed projects (including the Music for Peace Project) you can sign up or send us an email.
5. Affiliate any of your concerts throughout the rest of the year on our affiliate page and have them immediately advertised globally.
6. If you know someone is playing a concert the weekend of March 30 - April 1, encourage them to join the Music for Peace Project.
7. Tell your friends and family!

An ancient desire....
Inspired by the intricate knotwork of Celtic designs, this amulet represents the intertwining of the ancient Celtic peoples. Wear it as a symbol of the peace within oneself, in one's relationships with others, and to promote universal peace and harmony.
Peace is defined as a condition of tranquility, a command of emotions that keeps a person unagitated even in the midst of excitement and danger. The three pointed knot, ancient symbol of peace, in the center of our talisman symbolizes the unity of body, mind, and spirit necessary for the attainment of peace. Peace is also a state of mind when one knows that all one has is all one needs, and is able to achieve a perfection of balance in thought, word and deed.
This talisman symbolizes the three-fold aspects of the individual held within the spiraling arms of eternity, with the unity of the perfect circle binding all as one.

If we have no peace it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. -Mother Teresa

Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding. -Albert Einstein

An eye for an eye only ends up making the world blind. -Mahatma Gandhi

We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools. -Martin Luther King

You cannot separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has freedom~

"Do everything with a mind that lets go. Do not expect praise or reward."
-- Achaan Chah

"Looking for peace is like looking for a turtle with a mustache: you won't be able to find it. But when your heart is ready, peace will come looking for you."
-- Ajahn Chah

If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person. If there is beauty in the person, there will be harmony in the house. If there is harmony in the house, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
-- Chinese Proverb

Peace starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. When our community is in a state of peace, it can share peace with neighboring communities, and so on. When we feel love and kindness towards others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.
-- 14th Dalai Lama

"First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others."
-- Thomas a Kempis (1380-1471)

"Charity is in the heart of man, and righteousness in the path of men. Pity the man who has lost his path and does not follow it and who has lost his heart and does not know how to recover it. When people's dogs and chicks are lost they go out and look for them and yet the people who have lost their hearts do not go out and look for them. The principle of self-cultivation consists in nothing but trying to look for the lost heart."
-- Mencius (4th century B.C.)

"We stumble and fall constantly even when we are most enlightened. But when we are in true spiritual darkness, we do not even know that we have fallen."
-- Thomas Merton

"Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul… Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people."
-- Jawaharal Nehru

"Living the truth in your heart without compromise brings kindness into the world. Attempts at kindness that compromise your heart cause only sadness."
-- Anonymous 18th century monk

I'd like to meet:

Peace minded people~ who only see in gray~ Daven ...

Wide Eyed People. People who look past appearance and labels and worry about the peaceful co-existence and advancement of the human race, rather than pointing fingers, retribution, greed.

"Revolution is not something fixed in ideology, nor is it something fashioned to a particular decade. It is a perpetual process embedded in the human spirit."

~Kelley/IN

I'd like to meet this guy... Jessica

“The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common...”

"It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."

-RFK South Africa 1966

IT ONLY TAKES ONE.

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

--Friedrich Nietzsche

I wish I could've met this guy....His simple perspective on life, fierce passion for living with his heart, standing up for what he believed in and taking responsibility for his own role in the bigger picture has inspired millions....and continues after his death. How might the world change if more people would try to see through Pat's eyes?

This isn't just about patriotism....it's about not standing by idly, leaving the work that needs to be done to make change happen in everyday life to someone else.

If you doubt that one ordinary person living an ordinary life can make a difference, research this guy's impact on people. If you pay attention, you will find that it wasn't about his status as a pro football player that people remember.....it is about the way he lived. Every human being impacts another everyday in some way or another. What impact you have is your choice.

Live with your heart and offer no apology for that.....

Music:

Blessed are they who give without expecting even thanks in return, for they shall be abundantly rewarded.

Blessed are they who translate every good thing they know into action, for ever higher truths shall be revealed unto them.

Blessed are they who do God's will without asking to see results, for great shall be their recompense.

Blessed are they who love and trust their fellow beings, for they shall reach the good in people and receive a loving response.

Blessed are they who have seen reality, for they know that not the garment of clay but that which activates the garment of clay is real and indestructible.

Blessed are they who see the change we call death as a liberation from the limitation of this earth-life, for they shall rejoice with their loved ones who make the glorious transition.

Blessed are they who after dedicating their lives and thereby receiving a blessing, have the courage and faith to surmount the difficulties of the path ahead, for they shall receive a second blessing.

Blessed are they who advance toward the spiritual path without the selfish motive of seeking inner peace, for they shall find it.

Blessed are they who instead of trying to batter down the gates of the kingdom of heaven approach them humbly and lovingly and purified, for they shall pass right through~

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my name sake.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

I cannot tell you with what weapons mankind will fight World War III, but I can assure you that World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. ~Albert Einstein

"Almost everything you do will seem insignificant, but it is important that you do it." --Mahatma Gandhi

Books:

If you judge people, you have no time to love them.
Learn how to withhold judgment .....learn to listen.....get in touch with your inner self....look at life with joy.....don't ever cry over something that can't cry over you....
The most satisfying thing in life is to have been able to give a large part of oneself to others.
Part of the happiness of life consists not in fighting battles, but in avoiding them. A masterly retreat is in itself a victory.
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
Calculation never made a hero.
A person consists of his faith. Whatever is his faith, even so is he.
Rarely does God send miracles through those who are comfortable with themselves...
We must learn to live together as brothers and sisters or perish together as fools.
The first peace...which is the most important...is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship...their oneness with the universe and all its powers.....and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit.........and that this center is really everywhere........it is within each one of us... --Black Elk
I submit that if a man hasn't discovered something he will die for, he isn't fit to live.
Truth never damages a cause that is just.
Change your thoughts and you change your world.
Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become.
You may never know what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no result.
In the secret of my heart I am in perpetual quarrel with God that He should allow such things [as the war] to go on. My non-violence seems almost impotent. But the answer comes at the end of the daily quarrel that neither God nor non-violence is impotent. Impotence is in men. I must try on without losing faith even though I may break in the attempt. -Mahatma Gandhi
If humanity is to progress, Gandhi is inescapable. he lived, thought, and acted, inspired by the vision of humanity evolving toward a world of peace and harmony. We may ignore him at our own risk. -Martin Luther King, Jr.
Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.
