About Me

Seems like I've been interested in just about everything at one time or another.
Except pro sports. I just don't get the fascination with watching other people play a game. I figure the day those guys are watching me work on TV, I'll watch them. Not before.
I am married but live alone with my two cats (now there's a sucky situation). My wife is the notorious and beautiful Elizabeth Turpin, to whom I have been married for six years. She is 19 years into a 25-to-life prison sentence in the questionable state of Kentucky. Here are the answers to your questions:
1) No, she didn't "do it." Yes I'm sure.
2) No, we've never had sex. Sorry. Rent a porno if it's that important to you.
Everything else is way too complicated to go into here. Trust me on this, I've been doing it for six years and it still makes my head spin. If you want to know more, let's chat in private.
I collect wine and have amassed a fairly extensive collection, though I'm hurting for people to drink it with. I cook pretty well and make the best pizza you will ever have anywhere. I play piano, read extensively (mostly magazines like The New Yorker and Harpers) though I prefer modern American fiction and poetry. I have a black belt in Shotokan Karate. I give really good massages.
I recently retired from Microsoft after 19 years. During that time I designed and implemented a significant portion of the Windows NT kernel security subsystem, and published an article in the Windows/DOS Developer's Journal in 1993 with an intro to the NT security system that to this day is often referred to. I also designed and wrote EFS, the Windows Encrypting File System. I hold 8 software patents.
I have no idea what I want to do next.

My Interests

Wine, books, cooking, movies, computers, cats, prison issues, criminal justice reform, death penalty reform, taking the country back from the goddamn religious right.

I'd like to meet:

Mostly dead people. Richard Feynman, John Lennon, Jerry Garcia, Ernest Hemingway. Living people would include Thomas Pynchon, Bill Clinton (sob! we miss you Bill), Jimmy Carter, Mario Cuomo, Dave Barry, the Dahli Lama, Nelson Mandela. Lots of people, including damn near every member of Hottest Girls on Myspace. But who wouldn't...?

Movies:

Shawshank Redemption, anything by the Coen Bros, Blade Runner, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, Momento, Run Lola Run, anything that started out as a Tennessee Williams play, Apocalypse Now, Casablanca, Jacob's Ladder, This is Spinal Tap, Dr Strangelove, The Godfather, Apartment Zero, Donnie Darko

Bringing everything up to date: Beth lost her appeal in front of the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Once again the decision makes no sense to us, but that's pretty much the way things have been going fro...

It's a beautiful day

Sometimes I'm actually right when I have faith in the people I care about. And sometimes they're right to have faith in me. I'm sick as a dog but I feel good today. -R

It's always nice....

when you prove that you're not as dumb as everyone thinks you are. Cold and rainy here, but I'm feeling remarkably bright and sunny. I feel like I've had an itch for months that I couldn't scratch...

A shitty end to a shitty year...

You'd think that a guy who more or less supports somewhere around 4-5 women year round would be able to get a date for New Years Eve. You'd be wrong. At this point I'd settle for someone to just ret...

It could have happened. It had to happen. It happened earlier. Later. Nearer. Farther off. It happened, but not to you. You were saved because you were the first. You were saved because you ...
