About Me

Do not injustice to another
Defend the weak & innocent
Let truth & honor always guide you
Let courage find a life within
Stand up when no one else is willing
Act not in hatred or in spite
Be to this world as a perfect knight
Even if it means your life...

First and foremost, I'm a geek, but a damn cool geek, at that. I'm full of contradictions: a people person, but apolitical in every sense of the word; well-versed, yet always reaching for the right words; idealist in priciple, pragmatist in action. I love high energy EBM music, but I can't dance to save my life. I'm musically inclined, with a great sense of time, but I can't carry a tune in a bucket. I have a huge ego, but I always put others before me.
I love life and all it has to offer; I make it a point to find the beauty in everything, and I'm convinced that there is beauty in everything, difficult though it may be to find sometimes. I'm as flirtatious as they get, with a tenacity to match; there's little that I consider off-limits, so watch out. I don't bite, though, unless you ask.
I love people, and I never turn down a good party. I'm kinky and open-minded, though I have my limitations (and I know them). I'm incurably heterosexual, but many of my friends are gay/bi/trans/whathaveyou, and I love them dearly. I do not tolerate homophobia well, nor any kind of bigotry, for that matter -- we are all the same on this big spinning rock, and we all deserve the same respect.
I'm fun-loving and playful, and always serious about it. :)
Music is my escape. At any given moment, depending on my mood, I might be listening to anything from VNV Nation to Pearl Jam to Beethoven or Wagner. I tried my hand at being a musician once, but I found that I'm more of a critic than an artist, though I respect and admire talent in great proportion.
I'm a romantic, through and through. Life to me is about the journey, not the destination, and if I had my way, we would all indeed "just get along."
I'm open and honest, pretty much to a fault on both counts, but for me, honesty is indeed the best policy. Don't ever ask my opinion on something unless you're prepared for an honest answer, because I won't ever lie to you. I'm not a religious person, but I do believe that there is justice in the Universe, and lying is the surest way to incur its wrath. I've always said that my life is an open book for anyone to read, if they're willing, and now you can .
I love women. Plain and simple. I'm not a womanizer, user, or manipulator, I just adore the company of women, both as friends and within relationships of varying definitions. I've been accused more than once of being a pimp. What exactly that means I'm not sure, but if it can be interpreted to mean that I always do my utmost to guarantee that I'm always surrounded by beautiful women, then paint me a pimp. I know how to respect a woman for her individuality, of course -- if she wants it that way. :)
I go to a number of sci-fi conventions across the country, if you think geeks can't party right, then you are sadly mistaken. You can usually find me at Chattacon (Chattanooga, TN), CoastCon (Biloxi, MS), Dragon*Con (Atlanta, GA), Convergence (Varies, but New Orleans in 2006), Crescent City Con (New Orleans), Mobicon (Mobile, AL)
And No, I will not fix your computer for you.
Ok, maybe I will, with the proper incentive. ;)
Much more information about me can be found on my Live Journal , which I update with some regularity. It's the best way to get to know me and my personality, save actually meeting and talking to me.
Song lyrics that say a lot to me:
And fighting time so hard I pray
that this moment lasts forever.
And will the world to stay standing still at least for me.
Through my eyes stare into me.
I bear my heart for all to see.
With my face turned to the sun there ever standing still.
And fighting time so much I ask.
I will this moment to last forever.
Though seasons change and things come to pass,
remain inside of me.
And fighting time so hard I pray
that this moment lasts forever.
and will the world to stay standing still at least for me.
Despite the wisdom of defeat,
I bore my heart for all to see.
The wonders I'd seen...
The wonders I'd seen...
-- VNV Nation - Standing
(It's not depressing, as many might assume; it speaks of siezing every moment and making the most of each and every one of them.)

Get me a beer!"), Get Shorty ("It's the Cadillac of minivans."), The Big Lebowski ("You think the carpet pissers did this?"), Clerks ("I'm not even supposed to BE HERE TODAY!"), Chasing Amy ("Now THAT, my friend, is a shared moment."), Dogma ("Leave it to the Catholics to destroy existence."), Donnie Darko ("Every living creature on this earth dies alone."), The Fifth Element ("Leloodallasmultipass"), Fight Club ("The first rule of Fight Club is..."), Heathers ("Our love is God, let's go get a Slushie."), PCU ("Dude, you gotta lay off the pipe."), The Professional ("Can we try with real bullets now?"), Real Genius ("Are you Chris Knight? Television:

(I'm a Sci-fi geek): Babylon 5, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Lost, CSI, The Dead Zone, NCIS, ER, Will & Grace, The Tick (of course), Chapelle's Show, South Park, Adult Swim, Family Guy, Carnivale, The Sopranos, House, 24, Doctor Who (Classic & Modern), My Name is Earl

I hate anything and everything that smacks of reality TV. It exemplifies the worst qualities we possess as humans -- enjoying other people's drama, laughing at them, and somehow making ourselves feel better for it. I think it's the absolute worst idea Americans have ever come up with, except maybe for the USAPATRIOT Act.

Books:

I don't read nearly as much as I'd like to: Anne Rice, Dan Brown, Harry Potter Series, etc.

Heroes:

The Tick
Marvin The Martian
Brain
Yakko

Hmm.... I sense a trend
