About Me

Welcome! You have just entered the space beyond the "Velvet Rope". Before you make yourself comfortable, it is important to know that I'm only online while at work so if I'm not around for a few days or my responses are delayed, it's because I'm conquering the beast called Corporate America. Despite the fact that my profile has been viewed over 9200 times, I only have about 50 friends. Why? I reserve my list for people who are my past or present friends & loved ones (99% of which I know in "real life") and those who I have been blessed to cross paths with who I either admire or am inspired by.
In other words, feel free to send me a request, but know that you will not be added unless we actually get to know each other. I consider requests with no introdution/message as just an invitation to view your page. Think about it ~ you wouldn't just walk up to someone on the street and say, "Be my friend", without introducing yourself ~ would you? I speak to and get along with just about everyone, so don't be afraid. I don't bite ~ unless you ask me to ; )

I'd like to meet people who are positive, intelligent, know who they are, where they are going in life and are already well on their way.

I'd also like to meet God - the creator of my two favorite things: sunflowers and sunsets.

Music:

My musical tastes are rooted in jazz, stanky ass funk and include almost every artist who truly is an ARTIST. Sometimes I want to scream at the radio and episodes of 106 and Playground, "What the hell is that you are playing?!? Where are the instruments? What happened to vocals that weren't retouched and the use of bonfaide MUSICIANS who actually played live when the track was recorded?!?" {deep breath} To get to the nitty gritty ~ if you know a song/artist, 99.9% of the time, I do too...and well. : )

Movies:

I do not have 250+ DVD's like some can proclaim. I have a small collection of about 75 DVD's that I watch on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, I am a true movie connoisseur, but I only buy what moves me ~ ya dig?My favorites include movies like The Shining, Kill Bill Volume I & II, Little Shop of Horrors, The Color Purple, Belly, City of God, Hard Candy, Requiem for a Dream, Pulp Fiction, Purple Rain ~ for the music, of course, Magnolia, Boogie Nights, The Joy Luck Club, TransAmerica, Permanent Midnight...the list goes on Energizer Bunny style.

Television:

When I'm chillin at home, I watch The Food Network (I like to cook & eat, what can I say?), Court TV (I'm a nerd at heart), The Discovery Channel (I mentioned I was a nerd at heart, right?), Big Love, Weeds, Def Poetry, State of Play, Dexter, Family Guy, for the most part. I prefer movies and do NOT watch the news under any circumstances, I will read it, though : )

Books:

I may not have a lot of DVD's, but I damn sure have a lot of books! They occupy four shelves in my closet and two full length garage shelves at my parents house.My current bath/bedroom selections are, "Literacy and Longing in LA", "The Starter Wife" and "Words to Rhyme With", that I use when I write my dope rhymes, yo ; )
