I am here for Friends

About Me

It seems that while it's relatively easy to meet people, it's not so easy to meet the people from your own tribe. I am most inspired by a good conversation. I tend to jump around on my topics, but I've been referred to as "relentlessly interesting" I suppose some may agree, others may not. I cram a lot of life into my life. I am even tempered, and not prone to irrational bursts of anything (except exuberance). I cook often and mostly outside. Wine is my business, and food and wine are my lifestyle, along with travel, reading, music, exercise, light construction, jackassery and the occasional cigarette. I have done questionable things in my life, and I have learned from them. I'm moving to Chicago in about seven weeks to start the next chapter in my life. I hope to find some of my new tribe in the Midwest. The outlook is good so far. In my travels I've noticed an openess and warmth in the people who live in Chicago. That being said, I am a mentally and physically healthy adult who believes my word is my bond, and I take responsibility for my own actions. Aparently I'm the love child of Claire Danes and Gregory Peck.. uncanny!

My Interests

My interests of late have been focused on my career, and travel. I like to cook outdoors, often, as as matter of fact I prefer it. I can never say no to a good trepaning. I know a little about a lot, and enough about some... Language, art, music ( I play a few instuments, and I sing) My son Zane is an excellent performer, and it is nothing less than pure joy being able to watch him evolve as a singer, dancer, actor and human being. In the last six months my son and I have preformed together in the Seattle Mens Chorus. I love science, film, politics, the social kind as well as governmental, I'm very interested in extracting the most I can out of every moment, no kidding. Quality of life and living are a big priority. I work to live, not live to work.

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking to meet people who are smart, funny, curious, and singular. Please be mildly fearless and take responsibility for your own actions, and please be honest. Funny, did I list that? More to the point, a sense of humor, you don't need to be a comedian, just understand the funny. Someone who is comfortable in their own skin, and is at ease... despite the ever present existential angst. Please do not be comfortable in someone Else's skin. No explanation needed, hopefully. Extra points for being a "Cork Dork"

Music:

My folks are kinda old so I grew up with Nat Cole and Frank Sinatra. I did the rock thing in the seventies (Aerosmith, Queen,) the punk rock thing in the early eighties (X, Buzzcocks, Black Flag) then glam ( Bowie, Japan, Roxy)and settled in on the adult alternative contemporary stuff from the mid eighties until now ( Costello, Crowded House, Aimee Mann, Muse, Doves, Ryan Adams... Also, I love old country music.
