Al Wilson 21APR08Pastor of Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), Portsmouth, Ohio is also the founder and CEO of WrightWorks Ministries. Formally, Rev. Kathleen served on the ministerial staff of the United AME Church, Xenia, Ohio. Her duties included assisting the pastor, Minister for RAYC (Richard Allen Young Adult Council) and heading the Media Ministry. While a student at Wilberforce University, Rev. Kathleen was a Resident Director. Additionally, she was the music director and morning gospel announcer of WCSU-FM, Central State University, the listeners know her as "Lady Divinity."Rev. Kathleen has served on the ministerial staffs of Greater Institutional A.M.E. Church, Chicago, Illinois and Bethel A.M.E. Church, Lafayette, Indiana. Her ministry began before her call. She was a choir member and YPD officer (local and area) at Greater Institutional. She sang and traveled with an outreach ministry called the
Echoes of Christ Ministries (a group of young adults in and around the Chicago land area). She received her call into God’s holy ministry in 1990 and was ordained an Itinerant Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in September 1996.While on the staffs of Greater Institutional A.M.E. and Bethel A.M.E., Rev. Kathleen served in various capacities, organizing and directing the Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, the District Sunday School Convention, the Singles Ministry, the Class Leaders, and the Visitation Ministry. She served as assistant secretary and an
instructor for the Indiana Conference Board of Examiners.
She has taught seminars and workshops on spiritual gifts, class leading, visitation, ministerial teamwork, biblical storytelling and, theology in the movies and television. Rev. Kathleen is a passionate preacher and anointed revivalist. Through WrightWorks Ministries, this Media Specialist is a webmaster and producer of multimedia projects (audio, video and digital) for worship and educational settings. Her vision and mission is to aid religious and community organizations in the interaction between Christianity and digital culture. As a member of the Network of Biblical Storytellers (NOBS), Rev. Kathleen brings life to the living Word through oral and digital, biblical storytelling. Additionally, Rev. Kathleen is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Prince Hall Affiliate) and the Xenia Women’s Ecumenical Conference.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Rev. Kathleen has attended Columbia College and the University of Illinois at Chicago for Broadcast Communications. She is a graduate of Wilberforce University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology and of Payne Theological Seminary, with a Master of Divinity degree in Media Arts and Religious Communications. Presently, she is the first African American to pursue a Doctor of Ministry degree in Biblical Storytelling as Spiritual Formation for Preaching, Worship, Evangelism and Other Congregational Ministries in Digital Culture, from United Theological Seminary in Trotwood, Ohio. Pastor Wright will complete her research of the biblical oral tradition and receive the Doctor of Ministry degree in the Spring of 2008.
