My wife Catherine is a sweet lady- not my type though, I prefer more out-spoken and less refined ladies- but with wit of course, like my pretty, witty Nell. My court is a lively and cultured place- although some of the younger fellows can forget their manners at times- particularly my Lord Rochester! I like tollerance,honesty and humour. I dislike hypocracy, bigotry and un-necessary violence towards my subjects; 'I have had enough of hanging' 'i would have that every man could rest under his pear or fig tree.'
