About Me

Brand New Disaster: 2001 - 2005
This is an announcement that I have no idea how to write, so I'm just going to start writing and we'll see what comes out.
After a few months of weighing a lot of decisions about our band and our lives, Brand New Disaster has decided to call it a day.
This band has been our whole lives for almost 5 years. We've toured across America, met some of the most amazing people, and had the most amazing experiences. We've seen so much progress and had so many great opportunities since we started. I wouldn't trade this experience in for anything. I think everyone else in the band, past and present, would say the same thing.
The break-up has nothing to do with fighting or disagreements. We've always been on the best of terms and we're leaving on them too. If I could sum up the reasons in one short sentence, i'd say that "real life" and being in a band have a way of directly colliding with each other on a regular basis. And for some of us right now, "real life" is where we're being called. That being said, we didn't want Brand New Disaster to become a weekend band or just a hobby. It's always been such a huge part of our lives, and to make it a hobby just wouldn't be the same. We've always been all-or-nothing about this band and we felt it was important to remain true to that.
We're sad about it. I'm sure a lot of you will be too. But know that there are so many of you without whom we'd have never made it this far. All of you who set up a show for us, let us crash on your floor on tour, hung out at a late-night restaurant, said a kind word, bought a t-shirt, told a friend about us.. you guys made this all possible. All the bands we've toured with, shared the stage with, all of you have taught us so much and gave us the reasons to get in a van and drive across the country. Thank you thank you thank you.
There's already talks of people starting new projects and we'll obviously post any details about those as time goes on.
We love you guys. Thank you for all your support. Sorry we're making an early exit. We hope you understand.
Love,
Brand New Disaster: Phil, Garrett, Billy, Brendan, and Shawn.
