i share your dispair with the global political class..."The dismantling of the political class", the title of your blog, is not, in my opinion, the solution....The problem of democracy:-Winston Churchil said; "Democracy is the worst form of government, apart from all others"What was his dislike of modern politics based on?The tendency of the power seeking personality to reach the top.If you are not one who craves power your name will not be on the ballot paperThe people are thus left with a choice between power seeking personalities.I separate my reading of this essay - the Original Muslim texts do NOT i believe, anywhere, in any shape or form, discuss or propose the dismantling of the political class.If i have missed a quotation tell me...I am wary of the mixing of godless Marxism with Islamit is a source of corruptionand when i see the title of this blog i see British Marxismin the Sheik's interview on terrorism he speaks of the thesis and synthesis of Marxist debate in positive terms, i suspect a marxist sympathiser...This is not an insult as i am a Marxist sympathiser and many of my friends and colleagues are MarxistsI however am not a Marxist AT ALL and suspicious of the original philosophy particularly.Solutions to the problem of the power seeking personality reaching the top, in my opinion, inline with Plato's Republic, the foundational democratic document, involve THE PEOPLE actively choosing their leaders INCLUDING choosing WHO is on the ballot paper for the final vote... as opposed to just making a choice between a predecided choice of two...Success in this approach, i suppose, may be considered a "dismantling of the political class" as the political class at the moment is almost entirely composed of power seeking personalities... infact, if one were looking for a DEFINITION of "the political class", this would not be a definition too far from the truth...However, success in this approach would leave the systems of organisation almost exactly the same except for WHICH INDIVIDUALS are in those positions... it would thus be a change in character of the political class.The "DISMANTLING" of the political class has Marxist overtones which imply, on a certain reading, that he is proposing the destruction of Government - en total.... which would NOT be a good ideain my opinion
