The Very Soulful Tenors Show is a good representation of music born in North America and popularized around the world. With featured soloist that include Ray Blue-tenor saxophone, Fuasi Abdul Khaliq-tenor saxophone, and Detroit Gary Wiggins – tenor saxophone along with Johnny Rodgers – tenor vocalist, Mel Canady –tenor vocalist, and a world class rhythm section of Eddie Dejean –drums, Reggie Moore – Piano, J.C. Dook – guitar, and Darryl Taylor – bass. As a group they combine several different styles to create one unforgettable concert of soulful American music.
Each member of The Very Soulful Tenors Show is a bandleader and world performer in their own right. Together they display a wealth of talent rarely found on stage at once. They perform music titles that range from original compositions such as Fuasi’s “Pushcart†or Ray’s ballad “The Room†to songs written by such diverse artist as James Brown, Bobby Womack, and Duke Ellington just to name a few.
The VSTS was founded in the summer of 2002 when it came together to perform what became a very successful concert and a wonderful evening at the Köpenick Jazz and Blues Festival 2002. Under the direction of Gary Wiggins a very soulful tenors show was built that represents more than fifty years of American soul music.
By popular demand The Very Soulful Tenors Show have been invited to share once again with their adoring public a splendid way to spend a Friday night.
