About Me

I'm working on me. // I'm trying to make the switch from paper-pushing and brown nosing for a financial institution that deals only with the "ultra-wealthy" (their word not mine) to a career where I can be a wordsmith, discuss literature with others, and hopefully prosper from my love of language and people. // At this point my goal is pretty open ended. // Stay tuned for details. // I am writing a novel. // I vascillate between going to school for my PhD in English and becoming a professor or trying to start a Mom and Pop bookstore in a funky, hip part of town that hasn't lost it's local flair to Borders and other mega-chains. // I'm making a conscious decision to live conscientously. // I am not a technophobe, but I believe that common courtesy and human interaction should come before your cell phone. // I love language, so I hate that txt and im have destroyed our ways of communicating. // I will not answer my cell phone when I'm out with friends. // I fear anyone who chooses to cut themselves off from others for the sake of being constantly entertained by their PSP, iPod, or iPhone. // I really wish people would just THINK more. //

I love reading more than one book at the same time because I feel like it's channel surfing for the intellectual crowd. I love to read memoirs. The human experience is so complex; it's amazing when people are able to put theirs into words. The Harry Potter series is one of the best fiction works of modern times. I devour post-apocalypic works. Dystopian novels make my heart ache. And poems make me smile as though I've just eaten a bit of fine chocolate.
