HB's story isn't all that different from other West Coast rappers. Born in Compton, CA and raised there until the age of 10, HB and his family moved to Watts, CA. He remained in Watts during the influential years of his development. Growing up just outside the gates of Jordan Downs Projects HB was aware of the struggles and pitfalls of inner city life. Although HB was able to avoid the tempting life of the gang culture surrounding him he always maintained and honored the code of the streets.
While hanging on those streets HB developed a love and ability to spit raps. Being influenced by the likes of Snoop Dogg, NWA, 2PAC, Biggie and Da Lynch Mob, HB battled other cats daily. It was at that time while still in high school that HB was determine to make is hobby into his life. After taking a few years to hone his craft HB hooked up with the founder and CEO of Magnate Music, Bryan "Money" Sallis, by chance at a recording studio in Southern California. The CEO of Magnate Music to a liking to HB's swagger and decide to take him under his wing to become the next great artist from the west coast.
