About Me

My name is Maria Cannella and I specialise in painting 15mm Historical and Fantasy Miniatures - check out my website at:

I am half Italian (Cannella translates to "Cinnamon" so I'm an original Spice Girl!)
When I'm not working (which is not as often as it should be) I enjoy a variety of hobbies and past-times which includes travel (the USA proving to be a particular favourite), reading, cross stitch, walking my lovely English Cocker Spaniel, watching movies at home and at the cinema, gardening, cooking, and listening to music. I also share my house with two cats, Billy (The Psycho) and Kat (The Princess)
I also enjoy spending time with my family and I am the proud mum of two wonderful sons, 20 year old Christopher who is studying at Wolverhampton University and 19 year old Johnathan who is a Rifleman with 2 Rifles (formerly The Royal Green Jackets) - check out the photographs below of him and his comrades during their tour of Iraq - Op Telic 9.
I believe that life passes us by very quickly so you should seize the moment and live as happily as you can. After all, as someone once said, life is not a rehearsal!

My Interests

History, reading, travel, Chelsea Football Club, walking, art, Mahjong Titans, movies, music and cross stitch - and my beautiful English Cocker Spaniel, Jake!

Napoleon Bonaparte; HG Wells; Sigmund Freud; Henry VIII; Richard III; Robert the Bruce; Alan Sugar, Elvis, Sean Bean and Johnny Depp!

Music:

Very diverse taste from Il Divo to Aerosmith, Queen, Muse, Mozart, Dean Martin and Elvis. So basically, if I like it I will listen to it!

Movies:

Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Oliver! Gone with the Wind, Batman Begins, Braveheart, Amadeus and absolutely anything that features Johnny Depp!

Television:

The Apprentice, Have I got News for you, Hustle, Sharpe.

Books:

I read a book a week so it would be difficult to list those I love as there are so many. My all time favourite novel is Jane Eyre. I also enjoy books by Ruth Rendell, Stephen King, James Herbert and James Patterson.

Heroes:

My sons, Christopher and Johnathan.
