My name is Derek. My life pretty much revolves around music. Ever since I was a kid, music has been a big part of my life. My grandfather played guitar and sang in a band called Roye Robley and the Tennessee Drifters. I was always fascinated watching him play and sing. My uncle has been playing bass and singing in bands for about 30 years. My mother took me to see his band play when was about 4 years old. I was amazed seeing them on a huge stage in front of hundreds of people. I decided I wanted to do that someday. I started playing guitar when I was 7, from there I learned the bass and piano as well. When I was 11 I started learning the drums. I took lessons on the drums for 8 weeks and taught myself the rest. I've been in many bands since the age of 12. Creating and playing music is what I love to do most. Performing on stage in front of people is an incredible feeling. That is where I shine and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
