About Me

Highland Way is THE Celtic Band from San Diego County.

Several years ago, Brian Caldwell (lead vocals, guitar, bodhran), a native Scot born and raised in Glasgow, had the good fortune of bumping into Heloise Love (rhythm guitar and vocals) at a San Diego North County Folk Circle. She introduced him to her talented musician friend, Rich Heinz (bass, vocals). Within a couple of months they had combined their various talents and created Highland Way. As an added bonus, they had the pleasure of hooking up with one of San Diego's finest fiddle players, Paul Castellanos.
They are regular performers at the San Diego Highland Games and Brian has appeared on national (Donny and Marie Show) and local television.
Order Highland Way's music, Islands Awake and Walking Home , from CD Baby. Their new release, Live in San Diego, will be available for online purchase soon!

WHAT THE VENUES ARE SAYING ABOUT US:

Dear Brian & Band Members,
As Chieftain of the San Diego Scottish Highland Games and Gathering of the Clans, I would like to put forward our heartfelt appreciation for your participation in our event.
Your blend of traditional Scottish Music, both instrumental and vocal, both rousing and emotional was perfect for this event, as could be seen by the reaction of the audience.
We especially liked the way you included the audience and encouraged participation.
We look forward to having you return again as our headlining group in the near future.
Thanks again.
Yours aye,
Robert R. McClintock
Chieftain, San Diego Scottish Highland Games
The excellent Scottish Band Highland Way performed at our “A Scottish Evening” event on Friday night, October 13, 2006, much to the delight of the packed house of approximately 330 Games regulars and guests. Beginning very subtly as soothing dinner music, they very quickly cranked up the volume/class and had the crowd craning intently as they presented some excellent versions of Celtic classics and newer contributions. The band has amazing depth and talent in just the four musicians that make you think there must be more players hidden somewhere. Brian, Rich, Heloise and Paul all contribute to a synergy far greater than any one performer – and yet they are each complete solo artists in their own right.
We look forward to a repeat performance at this October’s Scottish Evening event and to a full weekend of exciting Festival sets as only Highland Way can bring.
John E. Lowry
Chief & President, Seaside Highland Games

BRIAN CALDWELL
On vocals and rhythm guitar is Scotsman Brian Caldwell from Glasgow. With a Bachelor of Engineering from the prestigious Strathclyde University, he operates his own studio and production company, Highland Way Productions. When not performing, Brian can be found in the studio busy working on other projects and bands. Some of his projects include other artists, other bands, and audio books on CD. Brian is also part of the energetic duo, the Clachan Boys . He is a talented balladeer but is known best for his high energy and ability to get a crowd going. Brian frequently heads back to his native Scotland to keep in touch with his musical and cultural roots.

RICHARD GORDON HEINZ
On bass and keyboard is the amazingly talented singer Richard Gordon Heinz. With his resounding baritone and amazing arranging abilities, Richard is the backbone of Highland Way. Many will recognize him as a former west coast rocker appearing on MTV and many a show throughout the U.S. Check out the West Coast Iron Works . This is Rich’s long time rock band. He has recorded with some of the best.

PAUL CASTELLANOS
On fiddle and most any other instrument known to man is Paul Graham Castellanos. In his professional and completely unassuming manner, Paul has played with many, many big names in the industry: The Chieftains, The Young Dubliners ,and Glen Cornick of Jethro Tull fame, to name but a few. He is also part of the Clachan Boys and is currently in demand to tour both Ireland and England. Highland Way is beyond proud to have his sensitive and high energy fiddling. A pure joy to work with.

HELOISE LOVE
Heloise Love on vocals, guitar, percussion, and penny whistle rounds out this group with her sultry vocals and great back up harmonies. Heloise is also a solo performer in her own right and plays with groups throughout Southern California. She can regularly be found in venues in and around San Diego playing with some of the greats in Celtic and Folk music. Check out her website .
