Raised in a household where it was either hearing his folks fight or listen 2 sum muzik, S.O.S learned early how 2 fall in luv wit a tune. Soul Train, kung fu flics, New Edition, Earth Wind n Fire, Eddie Murphy, and Michael Jackson make up his "self-abridged" childhood.
It was evident early 2 those around him, that he was a born entertainer. And after several talent shows(where he often played all 5 members of New Edition), he slowly came 2 C that he n the stage had a connection.----------
S.O.S wrote his 1st song, while in grade school immediately after watching his favorite movie @ the time, House Party. He was so moved by the scene where Kid sits on his bed writing in his notebook. From there he began 2 dibble n dabble with rhymes but never took it seriously. He was focused on way too many other things.----------
An allstar in 3 sports(football, baseball, n basketball) from age 8-16, S.O.S just KNEW that that would lead him 2 where he wanted 2 B! At age 15, he made a tape in his bedroom rapping over instrumentals 4 fun. One of his long time friends, Dantae, heard it n asked 2 hold it. Soon at school S.O.S was considered a real rapper n found himself havin 2 prove hisself 2 everybody else who "thought they was nice". Needless 2 say, S.O.S came out of every battle unscathed. "Ask HMF about about those parties, them niggaz know" he says enthused...He later broke his hip which ultimately ended his high school career n decided muzik was his calling.----------
Not only an athlete but a scholar, S.O.S went off 2 college on partial scholarships and actually graduated! It was then, during a summer break, in which a chance meeting would prove pivotal to young S.O.S's future. Lookin 4 the newest mixtapes 2 bring back 2 school, he wandered in a local hip hop store 2 cop. In there were several locally well known rappers going back n forth tryin 2 shine. A little quiet and shy, S.O.S figured he'd jus cop n leave but temptation wouldnt let him. He found himself in a cypher with whom he later found out was KI grip, Father Tyme, n Jmart. By the end of the session, luv was shown by all sides n numbers were exchanged. S.O.S's name has been in the streets ever since thanx 2 the relationship he later built with Jmart. He was the 1st person 2 bring S.O.S into a real recording studio, no questions asked n no money demanded.----------
While in school, S.O.S found himself runnin wit a crew called 20 Poets and a Mic. With their following n support, he again started entering into open mics n talent shows. His name started buzzin once again, n @ 1 event in which he had won, he was actually offered a record deal with a small label in LA. Excited, but saavy @ the same time, he took the contract back 2 his dorm 2 go over it. He later concluded that the deal wasnt what he wanted @ all, n since they werent willing 2 budge on the terms, he turned down the offer. He also got a chance 2 perform a show wit the highly talented award winning poet Saul Williams!----------
The past couple of years S.O.S has been kinda quiet. Recodring to himself n just waiting. Wit tons of requests 2 start a myspace page, S.O.S says its now time. "The world is finally ready 2 hear wut the fuk i gotta say!" he spurts out. "All these niggaz talking bout they swag. Fuk a swag, i dont got one. But a nigga do got heart! N thats wut i lead wit. When u hear me, u hear ME! Not who i want u 2 hear, but who u NEED 2 hear."----------
Knowing that it took so long just 2 take these tiny steps, is it the muzik that should be questioned? Is it wut its cut out 2 b? Are people gonna like it? Are people gonna like HIM? I'll tell ya'll wut, THIS reporter likes him. He has a presence that draws u 2 him when u hear him speak. But when asked about wut the poeple might say or feel about him n his muzik, his response was a smirk, quickly followed by... "Im sayin tho, I think theyll like it. I mean they almost HAVE 2 cuz i speak 4 them! But shit, even if the niggaz dont fuck wit me like that, they girlfriends will." Ha haa ... typical S.O.S - DECIDE 4 YASELF !!
