About Me

The nucleus of Basement was formed in 2003 by high school classmates in Hagerstown, Maryland. Basement's live performances have included opening for national act The Clarks, live radio programs, the "Baker's Dozen" benefit concert for the families of the Sago miners of West Virginia, and the Hagerstown Suns' Chili Cookoff/Music Festival at Municipal Stadium, as well as many area venues. Their sound can be compared to current bands such as Oasis, Weezer, and Better Than Ezra, as well as very strong influences from 60's bands like The Beatles and Rolling Stones. The group released its 11-song debut CD, Next Year's Memory, in late April of 2005. Currently, the band is honing its sound while playing area shows. They have also recorded new material in 2007, traveling to Florida in late July for sessions at the Full Sail studios near Orlando. Work has commenced on the follow-up to their 2005 debut, with a tentative 2008 release date set.
